If you want more live stuff from Jinjer try Captain Clock - Live at Resurrection Fest 2018. For heavy stuff try Words of Wisdom or Sit Stay Roll Over For their more recent sound (which I won’t describe here) try Teacher Teacher or Perennial. Both of those songs are off the Micro EP. You gotta get through all these songs (eventually) plus many more, Jinjer doesn’t have a single bad track.

Regarding the drummer/drumming: He has what I call a, "Jazz Kit"... Fewer drums and a specific set of low mounted cymbals. This allows/encourages Vlad to get the most out of every piece. He uses every part of each drum surface, as well as, every voice from each cymbal. I especially love his use of, "bell shots". Everyone in the band is a COMPLETE ARTIST.

It's the Amy Winehouse ending, Tatianas favorite vocalist, Jinjer has a great song in Russian called ' I want it I'll get it' no one reacts to it you should try it bad ass song. Jinjer had a couple of drummers and another guitarist in their history. The line up here is the current group. One guitar player left the band to become an actor before they signed with Napalm (End of 2015). One drummer moved to America, One drummer fell out a window in 2015 - Hes alive but cant play drums he was a beast, Next drummer left end of 2016 he was just around to fill in until current drummer Vlad was found, They got lucky getting him. Vlad is the drummer you seen in both videos, Vlad was actually a guitar player previously. This should help clear up future reactions when you see more members.

Someone already mentioned Amy Winehouse--she's got a Amy/Frida Kahlo sort of mix tattoo on her arm--but they definitely have multiple influences across genres, so you might hear things one might not expect from other metal bands. The change at the end the first time I heard it was unusual the first time I heard it, but I was like "Whoa, where'd that come from? That feels a little jazzy or maybe a little reggae like in that groovy vibe there." This was, I think anyway, definitely the best choice for a next reaction--for anyone, not just you--because it basically erases all doubts they can do it all live, in concert. Enjoy the ride as suits you, rather than feeling pressured to put them out faster than you'd like. And I know it was in reply to someone else, but love seeing you say "I don't care about views." Honest reactions, and not doing shit just for views, that's to be applauded.

Good pick - great to do the reality check with a concert performance. Teacher Teacher is great too and has several places where she switches between cleans and growls in mid-line. Probably their most popular video (studio sound, live video clips) at present if reaction based on the number of reaction requests I see. Their old song Destroy has 2 whole sections where she is almost rapping while switching back and forth between cleans and growls in mid line. Their "weirdest" song is Beggars Dance. You'll have to double check if it is the same band haha. I think their drum kit is optimized for the days they had to pack all their stuff into a midsize sedan.

This is an old song, written when the other guitarist and founding member, Dmitriy Oksen, was still in the band. It was originally in Drop C and had a different guitar work. When Dmitriy left the band they rearranged the guitar work for the one-guitarist format and it's now played in their current tuning, Drop A. Since you seemed very interested in Eugene's bass work, there's a bass playthrough of this song on their YT channel where you can see everything he does. It's worth taking a look. : )

I like how you noticed the drums. Here's some things I've noticed,as a drummer myself, about Vlad's drums. 1: Everything is tilted away from him. Not just the snare drum which is commonly done in styles like jazz for rim shots, but the toms, the cymbals, literally everything is tilted. He's reaching over everything to get clean hits. 2: The cymbals. It looks like a lot for a five piece setup, but some of them are duplicated left and right, probably related to the third point. They're also mounted extremely low (also a common jazz thing). 3: Vlad plays with a right hand setup, but will switch to left had dominate playing during the groovier parts of the songs. Sitting through a drum workshop with him would defiantly be an interesting and educational experience.

This song is older than Pisces and at this time their riffs were noticeably simpler (but still kicked ass), as they hadn't really explored progressive metal all that much yet. They also had 5 band members and this was played with four, although I have to go back and listen to the album version again to hear the differences. When you listen to Teacher Teacher you will notice the instrumentation is FAR more complex than this one or Pisces; it came out on the EP that followed the album Pisces is on (King of Everything) and starting with that EP the band made a shift and went in a far more progressive direction. Tatiana has made it known that she is a big fan of hip-hop, jazz and Reggae. She said that if she wasn't in a metal band she would probably be a jazz singer. Because of this a lot of their songs incorporate elements of jazz, reggae or hip-hop. It's pretty overt in this song, in other songs like Pisces it's more subtle. They actually have one song, "Beggar's Dance", that isn't Metal at all, it's just a straight-up jazz song, which I think is really cool, it shows their diversity and encourages listeners to branch out too. Fun fact: The lyrics for Beggar's Dance are made exclusively of lyrics that appear in other songs on the album; they literally took one line from each of the eight other songs and stitched them together into one song. There is also an alternate version of the song (Prologue), same lyrics, same melody, but much darker tone, played with distorted guitars instead of jazz guitars.
@DeadWirePromotions

FalconFlurry - The main differences between the two versions are the guitar work and the tuning: in the original Roman and Dmitriy did each one their own parts and it was in Drop C.
@FalconFlurry
@FalconFlurry 5 жыл бұрын
@@Module79LIs it really played in a different key? I never noticed that I just listened to it again, the lead guitar is actually quite subtle, most of the time it sounds like they are doing the same thing. I noticed in the live version there is one part where you can clearly hear the guitar ring out, but he's also palm muting the same note and I wondered how he did that -did he have a looper, or was it pre-recorded? Or maybe some gypsy magic, lol
@Module79L
@Module79L 5 жыл бұрын
@@FalconFlurry - Yeah, King Of Everything was their 1st record on Drop A, everything before that was in Drop C. They use pre-recorded tracks on some songs (I Speak Astronomy, Captain Clock, Words Of Wisdom and others) but not on this song. What you hear ringing out in the palm muted part here is probably the bass.

The reggae outro makes more sense when you consider the lyrics, which you understandably haven't on your first listen. It's about saving the planet and humanity from the consequences of climate change. It's mostly an aggressive, call-out, protest type of song, but that touch of reggae gives it that humane heart the genre is famous for, or at least used to be. Great reaction, man!

Dude, good reaction! That's why they're called "progressive metal". It's a mix of MANY influences and they do not hold themselves inside any box, but cleverly always stay smack in the middle of the metal genre. If you look up Jinjer's history, they came out of the metal-core, death-metal, nu-metal, soul, R&B, and even Cypress Hill! Keep going - they don't have a bad song!! "Teacher Techer" is an excellent next reaction choice. After that, react to "Sit Stay Rollover" official vid - it'll blow yer shit away!!
