After completing 3rd year till now students are being shifted to JIPMER Puducherry as in karaikal till now JIPMER is not having its own hospital, which is going to be constructed soon. So according to the most probable estimate that from 2024 Batch onwards they will be doing final year and internship at JIPMER Karaikal hospital itself. Currently we are going to the General Hospital Karaikal for all our postings, regarding JIPMER hospital the work is about to start soon so maybe within 1 or 2 years it will be ready. We all are waiting eagerly for it.

Ya definitely you have to learn tamil to talk with the patients in the hospital, and for people who are from Northern part of India have to put more efforts to learn it and ya apart from studies you have to focus on this also. See it's a district General Hospital not JIPMER hospital so patient load won't be that much, because cases will be definitely referred but ya for normal descent exposure it's somewhat ok but not up to the mark.

Hello sir…How long is the hostel from the hospital? How do u travel? Pros and cons of JIPMER Karaikal vs Puducherry?…Do u recommend joining Karaikal JIPMER or some state medical college

The hospital is 4 km away from the main campus for which we have our own JIPMER bus. JIPMER KARAIKAL Pros - Better Faculty to student ratio, you will get direct attention from the teachers. They are very good at teaching. Same exam pattern and class pattern as that of JIPMER Puducherry. and many more pros... Cons - Other than academics other activities are least preferred here. We have very small ground to play No auditorium No gym No common tv room etc. JIPMER PUDUCHERRY Everything is fine but there are more distractions, drinking water facility is not good in boys hostel, direct attention from faculty is less, it's lost in the crowd type of situation but ya everything depends upon the person how he/she takes it. But there the clinical exposure is one of the best things. If you are getting a top college of your state and JIPMER Karaikal then definitely go with the state and JIPMER pondy is like no doubt so many people have a dream to be there. But according to me taking a state College or a central university which is also near to your home is the best choice, but in state you will have a bond so look into that also. In the end it's up to you to choose. All the best👍

If you are from Tamilnadu then go for MMC Chennai it's best, as JIPMER Karaikal is still in its construction phase.
