There's no shame in losing a fight. It means the opportunity to grow. What's shameful is making excuses like, "He IsN't A bLaCkBeLt." And I wasn't aware putting yourself against another martial artist was damaging to a reputation...
@PlatyMoose14 жыл бұрын
@@conarykao It's ego protection. "arts shouldn't mix" or "of course he loses in this rule set" or "ain't no black belt i ever done seen". Tae Kwon Do has done a pretty good job of damaging it's own reputation with how many McDojos of TKD that are out there. if you aren't willing to see how your art pairs against another that's fine, but it's weakness. Real TKD IS beautiful and the truth is he probably got his black belt from said McDojo. train as many arts as possible in my opinion and you can understand that a youtube video of art vs art is not capable of tarnishing a reputation.
@Murchlives4 жыл бұрын
@@conarykao No, what's shameful is you thinking that this performance is an equivalent of a black belt in any martial art. How little must you think of Tae Kwon Do to think that this guy is a black belt lol Come on, that's just disrespectful. I get it, it's outdated and limited in its application, but damn, do you really think a guy who throws kicks like that deserves a black belt in a martial art that focuses solely on kicks? My friend is a black belt in BJJ, he is also my coach. Let's say he was a scumbag, and he promoted me to black belt because I'm his friend and he owes me a favor. I go out there with my white belt performance and let a judo guy own me on the ground. Wouldn't you be pissed? Wouldn't you say, "that guy is no black belt"? That's where they're coming from. It's not an excuse, it's just stating the obvious. No one said it's damaging to the reputation to compete against another martial art, what damages the reputation is claiming to be a black belt with that technique.
@conarykao4 жыл бұрын
@@Murchlives It's no secret that TKD gives out black belts to pretty much everyone. I'm not saying TKD is outdated be anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if the fighter was a black belt. You tend to kick a little bit differently when facing a wrestler or grappler as opposed to fighting someone you can just trade kicks with. And your friend is a phonie, hate to break it to you. In most BJJ places, the amount of time you need to spend with hard work to get to black belt skill level is 10 years minimum. If he just gave you a BJJ black belt for the hell of it, he's likely running a McDojo. Again, the only shameful thing here is someone whining, "That's not a black belt" when they have no proof to say otherwise. Same thing as the people in comment sections saying it's "not real Muay Thai" when the MT fighter loses to a Wing Tsun fighter.
