Man... I love these videos, I train in Judo and do a little Penchak Silat on the side, and these videos not only help me directly, they get me brainstorming how I can cross over these techniques into to what I do. I see a perfect set-up for osoto gari out of this myself :)
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome. And there are definitely a lot of possibilities out of these setups for sure. And speaking of Pencak Silat, that’s the first place I learned that inside trip from this video. I later saw it from a friend who wrestled off of a Russian arm tie but there are definitely lots of cross-style similarities.

Love it all but at the end, dropping to my butt on a single goes against my natural instincts. Do you see any technical problem with a snatch single - staying on my feet after that arm drag? It's a serious question as I navigate transition from wrestling to BJJ.

I think the snatch single off an arm drag is a great option.

What’s to stop your opponent from going with the drag and taking your back or doing his own takedown?
@KnightJiuJitsu9 ай бұрын
That’s called a re-drag. Timing is the main thing that prevents that. If you’re slow or sloppy, the other person can more easily redrag you

I’ve seen it done. Always thinking,trying to improve.

I always thought bjj and Filipino martial arts had a lot of cross over potential due to the use of arm drags and traps in both. You ever done fma Eli? You mentioned the footwork here and it sounds like you speak with experience. Also that two in one take down is very similar to a dumog take down
@KnightJiuJitsu7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And I agree there are definite similarities. I have trained quite a bit in FMA and done some Dumog. I’ve also done some Silat over the years and see similar concepts in it as in wrestling and BJJ.

These moves are awesome, I can’t wait to try this one on my grandmother when she tries to hug me when I see her at Christmas. She’s really easy to put into a headlock because she always sits in a wheelchair facing the corner, and she doesn’t have the strength to pull my arms off before she passes out.

How to deal with attacks to the groin while choking?
@KnightJiuJitsu6 жыл бұрын
Like from a guillotine choke? If the choke is locked in tight, I wouldn’t worry about a groin shot. It’s not going to make me let go. And they will only get one or two shots before they go to sleep. But if it’s still a concern, you can always sprawl with the guillotine instead of finishing it standing.
