I thought the same thing but apparently you need one player that is totally focused on defense. That gives some of the more offensive players to focus on scoring and not wasting all energy on chasing the other team best players. I agree and disagree at the same time. But most coaches think this way. I was told this by a retired master chief from the Navy. And we have been playing basketball for many years so we both respect and understand the game.

If a guy is hot, you ride with that horse. If Rui starts, if he doesn't put up better stats than Dalton.... or Rui plays mediocre in a Lakers loss, sit him next to D-Lo until Dalton proves otherwise. It's not about feelings. it's about mamba mentality on offense and defense and executing it every night. Starting Dalton will in no way hurt this team on a night to night basis. If you're not a fan of Northerneat basketball. All I can say to put this into perspective is that Austin Reaves is the TEMU version of Dalton Knecht. Let that sink in.

Keep in mind that he hit his hot streak when the second unit was in. They can keep riding his hot hand even if he moves back to the bench. He’s a rookie so his defense is suspect right now, and Rui is a far better defender. Don’t worry, he’ll have many chances to get that job back. But just because he’s on the bench doesn’t mean they are not going to keep going to him on offense.

It took a double team by Purdue with Zach Edey and another defensive player to double team Dalton to get the ball out his hands. His Tennessee teammates wet the bed and couldn't capitalize on the open shot attempts. The nail in the coffin play was Dalton Knecht fighting through a double team, and going strong to the rim... only to be blocked by Zach Edey. Edey's only time in the ENTIRE game stopping Dalton. I mean what more he gotta do? 😭 He been doing the same thing since junior college to last game he just played. If it playsike HIM, scores like HIM, and has a plus minus like HIM. Tell me, who is it?
