This is why I laugh when all the ex-NBA players say that Wemby will want to leave San Antonio because it is a small city and there's no "night life". Wemby is the product of a two parent household that has prepared him for years. He isn't a punk who suddenly got his bag. Dude has a competitive heart that is hard to find in superstar NBA players. He wants to win. He's going to make bank, but he's not going to make it rain at strip clubs and buy out bars. He's not looking for a Hollywood career. He wants to be great. He'll find it easier to do that in San Antonio where people leave him be. In San Antonio, Tim Duncan and Manu can go to HEB and do their shopping and people are respectful. The media isn't adversarial. San Antonio is the perfect place for a player to be his best.
@dave474c

But like you said, he wants to win. Badly. If SA don't get the right pieces around him he's gone. Wemby's 2nd contract is possibly if not likely to be the biggest in NBA history. He will sign with a contender. If SA ain't that at the time, well, they had their chance.

This BS narrative you guys try to paint that his teammates are intentionally not passing him the ball is ridiculous wemby is top 8 in usage rate this season and the spurs are top 5 in assist this season.. do they sometimes miss him when he’s open? Of course but they’re young and learning a team first ball movement offensive system they all miss each other every once in a while but people put our clips of his teammates missing him and they run with a narrative. I’ve watched almost every minute of every spurs game for the last 20 years and I can assure you this team has great chemistry and you can tell they enjoy playing with each other but people always try to cause division cause they know once these young guys get it together that’s the only way they’re going to be able to beat them

Lotta young players talk about following Lebron's blueprint but this kid might be the first one to actually do it. Realistically, most elite players as a rookie put up about 67% of the stats that they eventually put up when they Peak (Like roughly 18-20 ppg compared to 25-30 ppg). So Wemby is most likely about 2/3 the player he will become, statistically speaking. And that sounds amazing still. I'm pretty sure Gregg did Wemby a favor and told the Spurs NOT to focus on getting him the ball, especially early on. Haha Drake is really not that big in Europe.. Wemby probably knew about him but surely wasn't hyped about him as his teammates were, it wasn't such a huge thing for him to turn him down :)

Can’t respect any video with Carmelo in it. He finds a way to make it about himself. Can’t take him seriously when he talks about championships when he clearly chose money over rings.
