Face Palm! It's primer first, then BASE coat which is the BASE for the anodized colour, the base has the metallic in the paint which shines through the opaque blue to give the anodized effect.
@doobyboy216 ай бұрын
Ok people lets talk about thermodynamics for a second... the relations between heat and other forms of energy (such as mechanical, electrical, or chemical energy), and, by extension, of the relationships between all forms of energy. Break Galipers never get hot because the pads vs the rotors are the ones creating the heated energy ! Its like touching your oven when you are cooking something in it... Do you burn your hand when touching the oven ? No, because the heat is in the oven with the food being cooked ! In other words to make this simple, you do not need to use High Temp paint to paint your Galipers... If it gives you piece of mind then use it ! But a Galiper never gets hot to the point of bubbling paint !
@shaneinoz10192 жыл бұрын
It appears the coats are in the wrong order. Should be Primer, base coat then color. Doing it this way totally negates the use of the base coat as that is what shines through the color. The way you have done it the finish actually looks more like straight color, rather than the anodized look which would have been if you used the base coat under the color, as the color is actually a colored clear. If you know something we don't as to the reason of your order of coats, please advise. Many thanks and the stickers were a nice touch.

A lot of work and over spray is still a big issue x across 4 corners - the other concern is that the paint, via a rattle can, is thinned down to get it out of the nozzle...it's so thin it can start flaking in a few weeks. The brush on system has very thick enamel, that smooths itself on application so no brush strokes, and best of all - no over spray. The issue with the brush on, once you start, unless you have all 4 corners in the air at the same time, you might not get all of them done inside the dry time for the resin / epoxy like paint, that starts to harden after 3 hours.

Yes if you want to make sure you get coverage over the entire brake caliper’s removing them is the best way. If you simply paint the whole area, and leave it 24 hours to dry, any paint on the discs/rotors will be removed after the first high speed drive. You also end up with some very cool colour detailing on your suspension, so it’s a win win scenario.
@JJBanuelos Жыл бұрын
Umm how bout no, you definitely don’t want to leave any paint on the surface of the rotors. All that’s going to do is contaminate the brake pads & cause all sorts of issues.
@gmichaelhall Жыл бұрын
The impact of paint being removed from the rotor surface by an iron pad is no more harmful than rotor surface rust being removed by applied brake pads. The co efficient of the pad and rotor surface is literally unaffected when burning off surface rust or paint. Brake pads are made of iron composite and no paint is going impact them beyond that first applied brake pressure. The remaining paint will protect the rotor metal beyond the pad contact surface and it kind of adds an extra degree of protection. If you understand the products and metalurgical properties than it is logical to deduce that a bit of paint on a rotor ain’t even a thing. ✌️
