It is so sad that I know someone who is out of work. She has some unemployment and took some money from her 401K. She took a hit on early withdrawal. However, she orders food online, shops like crazy, and late on her rent. When she complains of money I just look at her, and tell you are the cause of your money problems

Same. I had a coworker ask me for $5 because she overdraft on her bank account at McDonald's. Same coworker who told everyone she didn't like me. She said, " I don't like her vibe". This is the young woman rocking a new car every two years. She keeps financing. In addition, she has +$20,000 in student loans. The sad part is she earns more income than me.😔😔😔

We have a 15 year old car 300k in investments 401k 250k 100k in Roth IRA 6 month emergency fund just bought a home in a very desirable neighborhood. We invest more than we spend. Everyone thought we were broke until we bought our home. I’m 35. It can be done. Move in silence and throw everything into investments and high yield accounts. We don’t even make a lot of money we just don’t spend. Only invest in things that make you money. It’s never too late. It’s true about relationships cousins came and saw our home which is worth 600-750k and they started treating us in a very transactional way. Needless to say we keep them at arms length. It’s quite sad.

I started my savings with company match at 29, navy from 19-29 almost no saving but va loan for house. Every raise I got I put towards 401k until it was maxed out. Then started to paying off mortgage. Then started a Roth IRA and 1 year expense. Was laid off and started new job with 1/2 pay. So did not contribute to the Ira or a 401 for almost 8 years. But my rollover it still doubled in that time. New job, So back to maxing out new 401 and Ira again. At 58 I close to what most people need to retire, but most likely will work until 65 for medical cost for family. But nice to know I can now make it if laid off again.

Life is not over in your 30s. You can start your life over in your 30s if you messed up your 20s. It’s never too late. Don’t listen to everything people say online. Make a plan and execute. Sometimes people are “stuck” in their 20s due to past traumas. Some are late bloomers. But it’s never and I mean NEVER too late. Some people do ten times better in their 30s and set up their life for success.

Correction: Some people are going broke, not everyone.
@DB-bw5fz
@DB-bw5fz 4 ай бұрын
I can point out one thing that’s different today….Social Media is far more prevalent amongst all demographics. Yes, it existed back in 2008, but it was mainly used by high-school and college students back then. Now, everyone has a voice on social media. People are far more open about discussing their situations with everyone, which in turn leads to more people sharing their similar situations. The problem though is you can end uo with a very one sided story. Yes, some people are struggling today, just like some people were struggling back in 2008. The thing is that not everyone was struggling back then, just like not everyone is struggling today. Today, you’re hearing far more individual struggles than ever before. It’s not necessarily that more people are struggling today, just that we’re now able to hear all of their stories.

Get a small rice cooker find someone with a Costco card who you can get to buy you a 20 pound bag of rice and is willing to buy you a Costco chicken and a giant bag of frozen mixed vegetables each week that’ll be around 20 bucks a week after you’ve made the investment in the 20 pound bag of rice. We lived off of chicken, fried rice, peanut butter and banana sandwiches along with any food people from friends or family who were cleaning out their pantry, we had no shame. We simply said if you’re cleaning out your pantry or your freezer we will come to your house and pick it up. It doesn’t matter if it’s six cans of cranberry jelly we will take it. We paid off our mortgage in two years and 11 months!!! we didn’t go on vacations. We didn’t eat out we didn’t go to movies we didn’t have cable no beer our family thought we were completely deranged until we told them our mortgage was paid off then all of a sudden, we were the brilliant money managers in the family and wanted advice until they found out. It was live at poverty level until you pay off your mortgage.😂

That guy talking about his 20s is absolutely right. 3 things you must establish: 1) Purpose - a career path that pays better than the cost to enter it 2) Freedom - Eliminate or reduce your debt. Dont tie yourself down before you even get started. 3) Future - establish a retirement account, and put aside 10 to 20% ideally.. or anything, just start!!

It is not too late to get things turned around at 30, but the sense of urgency has to be turned up a notch. Anecdotal, but I had to do a complete restart at 31 after chipping away at a degree for years while working, and then finally finishing a degree in Finance by going full time (including summer) from the age of 30 to 31 and starting from scratch. Some good timing played a part, but just being willing to put ego aside, work some long hours and being willing to learn has gone a long way. Investing wisely while driving a 2001 vehicle from 2011 to 2023 and replacing it with a 2014 vehicle (Toyota) has put us in a good financial position despite the late start. It can be done. Side hustles can also help to build the nest egg.

I work in childcare. Not so smart decision but I have no clue on what I want to do to make more money. At 18 I thought I’d love doing this but at 30 it does not pay the bills. 😢 I’m great with money, budgeting and being frugal I just don’t make much. 😬

I get 120k per year from my trust fund and I'm in my 20s lol. I technically never have to work for the rest of my life. But it is extremely boring and life feels purposeless. So I work random jobs. People are extremely hateful and jealous of me if they realize I MAY have more money from them. And I'm not even THAT wealthy

I don't necessarily "pay myself first", but I do put my savings & investments in my budget as necessary expenses. May not be a whole lot, but it's something. I also picked a word for my finance goals: Stewardship. I want to better manage & grow the "little" I have in order to build the habits needed to handle more in the future. ❤😊 Edit: I'm in my mid-20s & just finished school. Based on this economy, I should've been saving in the womb. 😂😂😂😂😂

I remember seeing videos about the single family homes you bought and was curious why you chose single family over multi-family. I appreciate your advice and your videos!

OK IM CONFUSED HERE.. I see all these people on KZbin complaining about inflation is too high. Cost-of-living is too high interest rates are too high. Groceries are too high, housing is unaffordable , cars 🚘 are unaffordable but every time I go out on the interstates, they’re always jampacked with travelers 🧳 every time I go to the airport their jam packed like sardines. I just got back from Disney World last week and every park was jam packed like sardines. so if people are hurting so bad and nobody in the economy has any money. How come it sure doesn’t look like it??

Figure out what you love to do, and be the best at it. Building up a bunch of different skills is critical. Look at Udemy to start! Always invest in yourself first. Great work ethic is still important and will always be important. Don't look like you just came out of a dumpster in an interview. Nobody wants to hire someone that doesn't look the part. Stop spending money you don't have! Simple concepts that work. Educate yourself about money. You will end up just like the people you hangout with. I dumped those idiots that didn't want to get smarter with money and life. It does get better! Don't give up hope.

15:16 it's not too late to make money in 30's. I started a software company age 34, and my brother his own age 39. It is harder later in late 30's from what I observed when my brother started his own company but not impossible if you have someone to mentor you and teach you how to do it.

I always worked somewhere cooking. Before I knew it my goofy ass was 30. Thing is I had 13 years in at a trade. Set me up for major success when i went all in. Do fkin something. learn something and rack up that xp. Doesnt mean ya cant have a dam good time as well.
