The Taido guy is Tetsuji Nakano, four consecutive Taido champion. Nakano is also woking as the director of an osteopathic clinic. the JKD Guy is Togo Ishii, he's student of Hiro Watanabe who claimed to have trained under Ted Wong.

Not even counting the almost perfect subtitles. At 02:25 Tetsuji does basically a Esquiva de Frente by putting his right hand and knee on the floor and his left leg stretched. Very nice video, great showcase of true abilities. Well done by each side. I love that this wasn't choreographed or scripted. Also, both guys were getting tired, near the end, that is where the difference between average fighters and Bruce Lee was, Bruce Lee was relentless in his endurance training. Because he knew against a skilled fighter, he would have to work at it, it wasn't going to be over in just a few moves.

Like I said these guys are great though just wanted to point out the fatigue, these guys displayed, both arts are very demanding, and unless you are a demi-god, 3 minutes is going to be a grueling fight. These two were very skilled, and conditioned. Both on point. Would have liked to see the JKD guy use more elbow smash stops. This was my first time seeing taido. Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know he was skilled though. Lol

The Aikido guy has sparred the Taido guy and done videos with tbe JKD guy. There is also a Japanese former UFC fighter, a couple full contact karate guys, a koryu practitioner, a Systema fuy wirh a brown belt in BJJ, and a couple ninjas. They very recently had a large full contact tournament that most of the group competed in. Af one point or another they have all had matches of various degrees of contact with each other. If you are in contact with Nakano senei or Mr Ishi they can probably help you get with the eest of the group to get permissions to feature their videos.

Great footwork by them, which helps keep them dynamic whether in drills or spars, it shows that they know what they're doing whether it's a controlled exchange like this or when it's with actual hard contact. Being too flat footed or linear is a no-no when it's the actual thing.

Togo never fights unfortunately as he does these 1 min short sparring sessions with no mouthpiece or gloves, just to show the footwork and how the moves would look like in reality. The best sparring he did is in his last video from 2 days ago if you watch it against a Karate guy as there's a bit more contact there with JKD stop kicks and some soft punches but fast.

Very interesting. Would love to see how Taido stacks up against styles with low kicks. The positive I think it is really cool and looks amazing. On the negative I do not think it is practical and won't stack up in the combat sports arena but would do well against traditional styles with a linear approach to sparring. Looks like you gotta be very fit and supple to do this art. Looks awesome.

Doesn’t sound like Bruce Lee’s JKD. Sounds like concepts. "An individual can not learn the principal roots of JKD through the accumulation of many different styles; For that would be like a singer trying to improve his voice by accumulating many songs. Rather: it is by understanding the roots of the problem." - Dan Inosanto [1969] "As in boxing or fencing, JKD is a step by step project where every move must be repeated many times" - Bruce Lee

It makes my point. The modern martial artist doesnt replace the traditional stepping with a boxers footwork because it's better. He does it because it's easier.Bruce Lee said their taking the stairs, I'm taking the elevator. Without realizing, the stairs make your legs stronger.

Taido here looks wonderful, beautiful but still practical. Dude controls the distance well and while the economy of movement is always the largest flaw in capoeira, taido or northern styles of kung fu- dude here stays relaxed and doesn't seem to be tiring at all, trying to find a good position to strike. And JKD guy is probably one of the best I've seen, mostly JKD guys are semi obese clowns arguing constantly about some meaningless details and lineages.

Taido from what I see has a lot of cool movements and definitely has something to offer to someones arsenal but suffers the same weakness that TKD has, where by ignoring the importance of understanding punches, it can easily be destroyed by a rush down style boxer. Which is something almost every TKD and Karate guy loses to (rush down boxers), Because once you can get past their fortress of kicks, they have nothing else to defend themselves wtih

I really enjoy your experience and expertise. As well as your videos. I must say the fact is none of this will ever be true. The JKD proves his master of craft as he avoids any impact while still standing. Taido goes to the ground, that's only working on a mat not in real life. Do a video with one of these guys coming up to me in a bar, and realize they wouldn't get the distance back, as they were standing next to me when the fight begins. Being within closer distance is our advantage as JKD. We completely can control how much damage is done. JKD isn't for sparring. I'm not directly from Bruce Lee, thank you Ssgt Bhottorf SF/1st Ranger battalion for helping a Jewish kid in Florida join the US army 🪖.
