Canon 5D (Mark I) Shutter Replacement Part 2: Reassembly

Reassembling a Canon 5D with new shutter assembly.
I am using the 5D parts catalog found here for reference: digitalrokkor.a...
I am using the Moody Tools JIS driver kit found here for disassembling the camera: www.amazon.com...
And storing screws in a Yongcun 24-compartment bead organizer found here: www.amazon.com...
I write in the various screw sizes in the compartments (M1.7x2,3,4,etc.) and check screw sizes against a to-scale printout that I drew in Fusion 360.

How to calibrate the camera sensor so that autofocus works correctly on 5d1 ? .. please reply i need your help :)

First of all, thanks so much for this video, I've been using it as a guide to get into my EOS 5D to replace the shutter. I do have a problem however, after replacing the shutter, I can only take one photo before the shutter gets stuck again. I think it has something to do with mounting the shutter mechanism on the clips in the mirror box that actuate the shutter. Is there a certain way to align these clips? I've taken the camera apart and put it back together three times now and I'm having the same problem. Please let me know and thanks again!

I also had the same issue I think. What worked for me was locking the shutter into the position seen in this video before mounting it. This is done by simultaneously moving both shutter curtains, and while they're open move the locking mechanism into place. The locking mechanism is a small lever near the gears underneath the shutter.

@@Babyboysamu yes this is exactly what i ended up doing after looking at the service manual. But unfortunately the shutter itself that I got from AliExpress was s faulty. Curtains were getting stuck. I had to replace again.

Where do you purchase the shutter parts from ? May you share the link ? And, do you have any experience to fix another camera before you fix this 5d?

You can buy it from eBay or Aliexpress. Ebay is cheaper at the moment ($35), here is one: www.ebay.com/itm/141772510495 I had already purchased and disassembled/repaired a few cameras before this one.

How did you calibrate the camera sensor so that autofocus works correctly?

Роман Трущелёв The 5D MkI sensor is calibrated using shims referenced to the lens mount frame. I made sure to use the same shims that I took out; you can see boxes for left/right/lower shims where I kept them when disassembling. AF should not be affected by replacing the shutter on these older Canon cameras. Newer ones are not referenced to any fixed plane and use Torx screws to adjust sensor calibration and those will have AF calibration issues when replacing the shutter. sorry, but in 5d mark 2, is also used such a sensor mounting scheme? I have to replace the curtains on 5d mark 2, and I'm worried that I'll have to do an alignment.

You should follow a video specific to 5D Mark II, I found this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2fWmn6KgciMask it looks like the sensor is still referenced using shims between the CMOS and lens mount frame, so it should be ok.
