Great work Ben. I didnt realize there was so much you have to mod doing the Hemi swap. I did the LS swap kit from Overland Performance/Motech it fit perfect, really seems like I didnt have to mod much at all. Only issue I had is my 6.0L has a Tooley cam swap. Tuning is tough and I'm still working on it. When your done, you wonder why u didnt swap it sooner!
@thomasc56873 жыл бұрын
What was some of the stuff that had to be modded? I’ve been comparing the Motech LS/LT kit compared to the Hemi options and the Hemi seems a little more plug and play. How’d you say this Hemi swap compared to the LS in terms of difficulty?
@1tonjkr7443 жыл бұрын
If you have the right tools and are mechanically inclined both are not bad. I have 2 buddies that did this hemi swap. The motech swap was in my opinion really easy. U have to soldier like 5 wires into the jeep harness that they rework as part of the kit. Wiring the engine is plug and play, took an hour. U dont have any battery tray mods, no fuse box/tipm moving, no floor mods for shifters, no welding in engine mounts. I did have to get a different fitting that goes into steering box for my hydro assist. Which Ben will be having clearance issues. I did fab my own exhaust system, easy though. U do have 2 computers, but it's been flawless for over 8k miles, only issue is I have a cam swap, and tuning is tuff. No cam swap, your golden. A benefit is use use all jk accessories, so everything still plugs in. I have ran hard with 2, 392 hemi swaps and were dead even, multiple times, loved it.
@thomasc56873 жыл бұрын
@@1tonjkr744 That doesn't sound bad at all with the Motech kit. What year Jeep did you do it on? I know the early model JKs are a tighter fit since the battery is horizontal vs. vertical like in the later Jks. You mention 2 computers and from my understanding Motech has moved to a single module system now, although I don't know if its for just the LTs. The LS/LT seems like a better engine and trans combo, but the little stuff like getting all the electronics integrated with the Jeep stuff puts me off. I have the 3.8 so really any engine will be an upgrade lol
@1tonjkr7443 жыл бұрын
My jeeps an 2008 jkru. Dont know if they have it advanced to 1 computer, I would say it's still 2. I put in a 2016 6.0L, and 2016 6L80, also a jk sport tcase to fit up to trans with the adapter shaft from motech/AA. Sold the rubi tcase. Integrating the jeep stuff is done thru the can bus, motech has it down great. Only thing they couldn't integrate was traction control. I still have every jeep function including remote start. During/after my swap overland even asked if I would be an installer for them out of my own little shop. Just to busy right now with my job. If u do go hemi, take a look at amw4x4.com, they are hands down the best hemi installers in the world, I know them personally, there about 10miles from me. I dont know if they offer a kit, but I'm an LS guy.
@thomasc56873 жыл бұрын
@@1tonjkr744 That's same year as my Jeep. I will definitely refer to your experience when I go through with whatever swap I go with. I may be misunderstanding but the recent Motech videos have shown the Jeep computer being replaced with the GM one, and I recall something about the traction control working with it. Again, I may be misunderstanding as I haven't looked too extensively in it. I love the work Americas Most Wanted does, very professional and looks factory, but I am most likely going to do any swap at home. Simply can't afford 20-30k for a shop to do it.

I will look into ur vids for what I can do to keep this build cheap. I do not have that much knowledge and everything professionally done isn't practical either. I have a 2010 Sahara sport unlimited w around $10k of mods into it to look like a beauty. I currently have around 180k miles and a frame with no rust. I shouldn't have to worry abt the motor till the 300s but I'm trying to plan out a 392 swap. I plan to get a 2013-15 mustang gt premium build w $4k mods, my Jeep is my first car and I don't plan on getting rid of it. Just like u I gotta automatic, but for the most part I only did a suspension spacers so the entire under body is stock.

I've enjoyed watching the LS swap and your other videos. A couple of things that you did in this video that you may regret later though. First, the wires that you extended and changed the color of by using whatever you had laying around. At some point someone may need to trace those lines and that little trick will frustrate them to no end. Second, the bushings that you got for the trans/t-case connection is a point of failure. If that fails, I hope that doesn't get you when your far from home.
@JKGearandGadgets3 жыл бұрын
I see what your saying about the wires, but since there are only a couple I won’t have any issue troubleshooting it. As for the bushings, I don’t see how that can be a failure point since they aren’t really subject to any load or stress
