been there on the rookie transmission work...1985 I attempted my first "shift kit" install on my 70 RT Challenger so I could slapstick through the gears in the automatic.... long story short the thin plate I added had a right way and wrong way to be installed and well as I was testing it on a local back road I took off as fast I possible, 1st went great, 2nd went great however 3rd when I was at about 45 mph slapped straight in to reverse! (can you say massive rear end wheel hopping/bouncing) was thankful for the beefy dana 60 and the 727 transmission ! pulled it apart, found the "mistake" put it back together and never had any issues after! -- until a year later when also for the first time I swapped the cam with a high lift purple shaft cam but neglected to swap the lifters/push rods & springs to compensate :) --- thankfully those were the extent of my big mistakes ;)

Hood scoop won't work on the trail, intake air temps will still go through the roof. When I first started my hemi in my driveway (at night, 80°F), I had the hood up and even with the stock air box, the intake air temperature went up to 144°F. I'm running the truck intake manifold, the JSS adapter, stock 2012+ air box, and 2012+ AEV snorkel (the 2012+ box and snorkel have a larger box inlet). With this setup, my IAT averaged about 90° last summer on the highway and never went above 110 even going slow. Another thing you'll find is that the NGC4 PCM will not control the SRV. You will want to get a standalone window switch to run the SRV. If you haven't already, you'll probably start getting various codes for random misfire, slow O2 sensor response, etc. Let me know when you get HP Tuners and I can help set you up with a good baseline tune for the engine that could save you a bunch of time. HPT recently rolled out their Neural Network Trainer and it's made a world of difference in my setup. The NNT is the correct way to tune these engines. If your base tune is the same as mine was, you're probably missing at least 60HP/tq. Be careful with high loads on the engine (including WOT) before tuning. You may be knocking a lot.
@JKGearandGadgets3 жыл бұрын
Which window switch did you use? I’m looking into the msd setup. And yes I’ve noticed the JSS tune is very conservative. I have Hp tuners
@gswinlerjr3 жыл бұрын
@@JKGearandGadgets I haven't gotten one yet, still making small adjustments to my tune in the NNT. Once I'm done with NNT, I'll do the window switch and tune the VE SRV Mult table under Airflow -> Speed Density. I'd guess we had very similar base tunes. My tune wasn't so much conservative as it was very "5.7." The neural network weights and biases were stock 5.7; setting them to base 6.4 made an immediate difference. If you'd like, I can send you the neural network tables that mimic the base 6.4.

Awesome video Ben. Glad you got your issue sorted out an thank you for sharing that with us. I'm waiting on my metal trans pan, going to pull my valve body this weekend and get it shipped out to Todd for re flashing. Fortunately/unfortunately, guess it depends on perspective, my trans is sitting on a dolly and not in the JK yet. lol. I've seen lots of videos on the 8spd, like yourself...transmissions, especially autos, are not my thing. How was it doing the fill procedure for the trans after you installed it? Especially when you have lines, cooler, etc to get filled as it runs.
@JKGearandGadgets3 жыл бұрын
It will be so much better with it out of the jeep! You can flip the trans upside down on a table. Fill isn’t bad at all. Once it’s in the jeep, pump it up till it flows out (you have to pump slow otherwise it splashes and you’ll think it’s full), then put the plug in. Start the jeep and leave in park and keep filling until it overflows again. Then turn it off. Then grab your computer and download the PCS 2800 tuning software. Monitor the trans fluid temp and make sure it’s around 90-110 degrees. Jack up rear wheels. Start jeep, hold in reverse for 5 sec with foot on brake, shift to drive and accelerate to 2nd gear for 5 seconds, then slow down and shift to neutral, raise neural rpm to 2000 for 5 seconds, then go back to park. Then make sure temp is still under 120, go underneath and open plug and check level, add if needed. Then go on a drive (drive easy), make sure trans gets above 180 so the cooler line thermostat opens and fills your cooler. Then let it sit for a few hours until trans temp is back down to 90-110 and repeat the fill/level checks.

As far as horsepower & torque goes, if there's Supercharger kits putting out numbers comparable to a 6.4 for a fraction of the price then why would someone not go that route as opposed to a engine swap? Generally speaking that it, I'm not referring to your specific wants and needs.
@JKGearandGadgets3 жыл бұрын
Supercharging the jeep V6s can make good power for sure, the issue is that is it short lived... the boost kills the engine eventually. Most kill the engines within a few years, leaving you with the option to go back with a new v6, or swapping a Hemi in (so now you paid for a supercharger and then a Hemi too). Whereas a Hemi swap has the power, and can provide that power reliably for years without issue.
@dwizl72133 жыл бұрын
I had made the same inquiry and the way it was explained to me was....supercharging a V6 is like taking viagra in your early 20s. It might make you a super stud but it's going to suck the testosterone out of you prematurely and now you have Erectile Disfunction before you turn 30

At the end of the video, it appears you have may have another problem with your RIPP coil packs. Out of curiosity, what spark plugs are you using? When I purchased my RIPP coil packs, I went with NKG Laser Iridium plugs because my research pointed me to going with a higher-end plug up handle the power output better, and that these were the ones recommended by RIPP. No problems yet, but the shear hassle of replacing ones on the driver's side has me hoping I don't run into issues like you are.
