Thanks for your comment, but I think you are missing the intent. This method is described for professionals and shows a real-world method for adjusting the sax. Pad coverage would have been addressed before the key-to-key adjustments shown (I didn't take the time to explain this to the non-technician). The "shimming" and reseating of pads (as you outline) to affect adjustment is not appropriate. Shimming (rarely done), and reseating pads is to alter pad coverage, not key to key adjustment.

Good info! My only suggestion is I wished the focus on this video were better, especially for this type of video. I've watched a few of Matt Stohrer vids and they all have very good focus.

Hello JL Smith Ruben Gutierrez here from Brooklyn Brass & Reed, Interesting video. I am thinking about ordering your tool. Just one question. Seems like when using this tool it might be possible to accidentally bend the hinge tubing or hinge rod since you are kind of prying off of it. Any thoughts on that? Thanks
@jlsmithco9 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruben, good question. This is not a problem at all. Of course judgment is called for (as with any tool). Cheers, Jeff.

There are a number of things which may manifest on the low C. Without examining the instrument I can't adequately answer.

my alto lower keys does not play well without pressing hard on the keys/pearls in order to close the cups without any leaks does it need adjustments
@jlsmithco7 жыл бұрын
Great question. Yes it certainly needs adjustment of either the pads themselves or key to key adjustments.

@marquinhos27sp17 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it serves only to make the settings of the left and right hands or if it has more functions ... In your video can not understand how it works , there are some other video to your vc make this adjustment ? thank you so much
@jlsmithco7 жыл бұрын
I have no other video to show the tool's use. It does have other functions but the left and right hand stack sections are the main purpose. It is hard to show repair technique in 2D video format but it's the best we have unless you were sitting at the bench with me.

What about the G# kry....@!!!
@andrea2221311 жыл бұрын
Rather than bend the mechanism you should re-seat and shim the pads as necessary. The other bad thing is that to bend one part you are levering against another and risking damage there. Do a proper job, assemble the stack and see where the problems are. Strip it, shim and re-seat the pads and you won't need to mangle your horn because you did a bad job fitting the pads. Jeez!
