A couple small additions: Against anybody with a super armor super (Colossus, etc.), use Magneto's HP throw and hit em with a snapback. It will turn them invisible, send them flying across the screen, and will remove the super armor. They stay invisible until they move, but can still be hit. I believe it works on Mecha Gief as well, but he stays Mecha. More fun with the Mecha Zangief glitch: Depending on the frame he is frozen on (I recall him upside-down being amazing for this), certain Thanos supers will make him absolutely FREAK OUT (I think the stone walls one). I used to experiment with this all the time on Dreamcast and got some amazing results.

It's literally the best fighting game ever made and has the best music. For years every similar game was compared to this untill after many years we realized there will never be another this great. Never really played this game, but one thing I've always wondered about the Gambit glitch. Is there like a time limit after snap back before Cajun Strike can be used? Like, if you snapback then wait say 5 seconds does it still happen? I'm assuming it doesnt happen if you use any moves between the snap and strike? This one just interest me a lot because all the others are dependent on players doing them intentionally. You'd only spam taunt during that move for the glitch, you have to actively combo the dead bodies, and all the others are situational to the point they'd only happen on purpose, but the Gambit glitch could just happen on accident if you forgot about it.

Just do anything else after the snapback but before Cajun Strike. Yes, you'll have to remember not to do that during a tournament.

I learned the Gambit glitch and Guile glitch from an 11 year old boy in my neighborhood bowling alley/ arcade. I asked him for an hour to teach me the secrets and he showed them to me after i gave him 20 dollars. No one i knew had ever seen these glitches. I learned the Thanos glitch on my own. Im 39 and still play this game on line.

there's also the guile glitch that leaves the flash kick waves from his super on the screen causing your opponent to block every time the hit "back"...making it so they pretty much cant back dash OR walk backwards for the rest of the match...which is pretty game breaking . i know how to do ruby hearts version also...same as guiles idea. you lay the treasure chest that spawns the ghost, right as you lay the ghost chest and BEFORE the ghost spawns ...you snap the opponent out. if you do it properly the ghost will spawn and since there is no one to fly towards, it just sinks downward off the screen. but it still stays active offscreen somewhere...meaning ruby heart always has an attack onscreen for the opponent to block if they press back...so those 2 glitches are banned in tourney also

One I used on one-player or fighting against cheaters: use Rogue, and have her absorb someone's speed attribute. If you spam her low-kick during this time, she kicks the opponent so fast that by the time her foot hits the ground, she'll kick again! You'll get a large combo, and the opponent can't fight back. I used this against a guy who only liked playing games when he could win, then he'd brag about how badly you lost to anyone who'd listen. His favorite character was Wolverine, who gave Rogue the speed attribute. I'd kill all 3 of his players before her timer ran out. He tried to cheat by not telling anyone how to use supers (for some reason, his ps3 combo setup was different than my ps2), so I spammed this for 2 rounds. I beat him so badly that he rage quit in front of everyone at an all-night party my college threw, turned off the TV, unhooked the game and told me to get out. He didn't say anything the rest of the night, and I was the hero of my friend group that night! 😂😹🤣

Only did it once using Xangief. He has this infinite hold where he grabs the opponent till the opponent burst in flames and just drain the lifebar. And also Guile's hanging jack knife where the projectiles are just stuck on screen, making the opponent block everyltime the player backs. I font know if thosenare bannable but its worth mentioning it. 😁. Awsome list by the way. You learn every day.

When I first played MvC2, I was still fresh and had no concept of video game glitches. This guy I meet often at the local arcade would do the Gambit Cajun Strike and fly up there, he would convince me it is one of Gambit's "special abilities" and he'd win that way with life lead on timeout. When I would ask him to show me the commands to do this, he claims he doesn't actually know the controls and that he's simply button mashing till it happens.

There is another glitch with Megaman and Venom. If Venom does web super onto Megaman's body as he explodes, Venom freezes in the center of the screen as the explosion animation continues indefinitely.

Here's one for Wolverine's air grabbing. When the opponent is jumping in the high air or falling/landing down from the air, Wolverine superjumps and grabs, causing freeze him and the opponent in the air. It will happen if you keep superjump and grab a several times. I was there in the arcade and accidentally discovered a glitch. I would never use it as abuse because it was not my intention to do that.

There’s a few glitches, but the one I remember the most is with SonSon and Strider and someone else Guile I believe. You must have level 3 super. I can’t really remember but you would do Striders grab super then guile’s sonic boom super then SonSon super where she eats fruit and spits the opponent in the air as a watermelon seed. The opponent wouldn’t come down till the time ended. If you weren’t in the life lead you would also lose. Did this as a prank on someone I didn’t really know...guy started throwing punches .

There’s a Morrigan and Iron Zangeif glitch that happened to me. If Iron Geif does a lariat and Morrigan air dash/flys and gets hit, then Morrigan will fly up off the top of the screen.

IIRC there's at least one more glitch that freezes things up (possibly breaks DCs), but I don't remember the exact methods. It's the Shuma Gorath glitch, where Shuma gets caught in one of his move animations forever. I do remember the setup for it being a bit annoying, though, so good luck. :) There's also the double-team glitch (also involving Shuma I think), but I can't remember all the details for that one either. Both of them are basically impossible in tourneys, because you need really, really precise timing and the other player to help you. Also, you have to play Shuma, so that's something. You can check out Magnetro's channel for some old combo vids that feature some of the glitches, but I don't remember if any of the vids show the setups for them. Thanks for the fun vid though :)

I'm not 100% sure, but I do remember there is a freezing glitch that involve Venom and BB.Hood.. where you use Venom super and once the opponent get covered in web, you cancel into BB.Hood's grandma super and your opponent would get stuck...

This is super interesting, but tournament rules allowing bugs has always...well, bugged me. I know they're about game mastery but there's just same game mastery that seems unsporting and bugs are that to me. But then I'm mostly thinking of Dedede chain-grab back in an old Brawl tournament me and some friends played. Where my friend's much better Luigi got beat only because dedede had to land only one grab to really uneven things. He kept away for a good long while but that fat bird was so floaty and tanky that it just ended bad. That it was acceptable still makes me salty.

Calling something a bug is already confusing since most bugs are the game working exactly as it was designed and it's just a logic/design issue and not an engine issue/limitation/quirk. Like Dedede's chain-grab you mentioned. That one is debatable if it's a bug. It's obviously unintended and annoying but it's some dumb design. Some things aren't obvious if they were even intentional like wave-dashing. Some will yell that Melee wave-dashing is a glitch even though the devs knew about it but it's not obvious if it was intentional without the game acknowledging it and they clearly didn't know that it would be so important to the meta. There isn't really a right answer. Many bugs make games better for a variety of reasons and some bugs can ruin the game.

One time in an arcade place, I saw a guy use captain commando. He use the move were u grab the opponent and electrocutes him. As soon as you see that- not smash the button, for a lack of s better word u rub all the buttons at the same time and captain will electrocute the opponent until his life runs out. No freeze screen or anything. Just electrocute and move to the next one. Cool glitch.
