5:33 a very important part of this super is the fact that the startup has a disgusting amount of invincibility AND you can cancel the startup. So if you activate super you can use the screen freeze to see what your opponent is doing and if you recognize a button, you can immediately cancel the startup and input a guaranteed parry into punish. If you don't see them doing anything, you can just let the invincibility rock

Another thing to keep in mind is he let the invincibility rock so that the unparryable move wouldn't hit. Raida is unparryable in this game so if you meaty it vs Makoto in Tanden Renki she can literally do nothing. In this situation though delaying past the active frames gives a guaranteed punish.

i love how ibuki and makoto are "rivals" in this game. they're both offense characters that use different methods. ibuki with high hit counts and makoto with just beefy hits.

I'm not subscribed, but when you show up in my feed I watch it. Your videos explain things on a low enough level that I appreciate it. I played a little bit of Marvel vs Capcom, and went to college with a guy who lived close to General AKA and I went over one day. My god. Playing against a tournament level person humbled me, but the guy taught me a bit too. Showed me how to counter and parry and I got a tiny bit better. Watching you feels like him teaching me again.

From my experience using Makoto and SA3 1- take the game to a moment where the damage to the opponent has dropped to half a bar or a little less so that SA3 ends up eliminating the entire bar since it is an SA for victory 2- Think of the optimal combo to win in that little moment that Makoto turns into a unstoppable train... If you are good with the parry to respond to the possible counterattacks 3- Taunt as many times as possible that small damage buff can be added to the increased damage of the SA3

I love the animation for it more than anything tbh. She pulls a DBZ "scream at the top of your lungs to power up" moment and goes sicko mode. Its super simple but the way its animated and executed is great. You can really FEEL her getting fired up.

I think this has decided it for me. I love Makoto and always wanted to get good with her, but the best-in-choice SA2 really put me off, mostly because the combos off of it were just so damn rad and did so much damage that they seemed basically necessary. SA3 seems way more in my wheelhouse.

One of the big issues is that there’s a bunch of hit grabs that can normally be blocked but can’t be parried. So Oro for example can just hit-grab into hit-grab over and over again and there’s nothing Makoto can do because she can’t block it and she can’t parry it.

Honestly this super is beautifully designed imo. That conversion off the grab at like 65% into death was crazy. There's a comment that you can use it to parry. That was really cool as well. The weaknesses seem more like a way to direct the player on how to use it. Strong tools tend to be versatile and splash able, but I actually dislike that ideal of design. It makes those tools overcentralizing and leads to staleness.

So far there's been only one player that kind of make SA3 makoto work and that's Otouto, 3rd strike channel has uploaded some matches of him in japanese arcades, and he's good, but theres not too much footage of him, probably due to SA3's unforgiving nature, or maybe he doesn't play 24/7 idk.
