Very useful video! I never knew when this unit stop taking a charge, all I needed to do was swap out the drained battery with a new one, for about 30 dollars.

Thank you! I need to replace mine. Sometimes when things are taken apart parts fly everywhere, but this looks straight forward. I have used my 660 for years, and it has been a great unit. Lately I have noticed the charge only goes to 75%.

when you replace the battery run an extra positive wire and a negative wire off the terminals and thread them through a newly drilled hole of the plastic case. You can use wire nuts to protect the ends of the wire outside the case. These jump starters all have circuit boards that allow the jumper to be charged and if it goes bad....you cannot charge your battery. If that ever happens or you forget your charging cable, you can hook a battery charger to the two new leads you installed when you replaced your battery.

when you buy one of these JNC 660's new you get a coupon in it for a one time battery replacement for $75. That seemed like a good deal until I watched this video. Thanks man!

I thought one of the reasons why this booster is rated so highly and is so reliable is because of the original Proformer Battery series used inside. Would think that a generic replacement would defeat the whole concept.

Here's a tip get a battery maintainer and attach it to the internal battery terminals with the ring connectors that will keep your unit fully charged at optimal power and make the battery last longer. I did it with mine and it's much better than the AC adapter that comes with most because they want it disconnected once it's fully charged and if you keep it at home like me it can go dead before you use it. But a good battery maintainer will give the battery the equivalent of exercising to maintain it's power, health, longevity and optimal power.

Can you elaborate on the tools used to remove the battery once you have the unit opened? It appears to me that the screws holding those connections are phillips head screws. Is that correct? Also, there is very little space to unscrew them. You appear to be using a rather large (wide) 8mm socket...how are you fitting that in the tiny space? And the 5/16 you're using...are you using the open ended part to hold the nut? Again, the socket...are you using that on the screw or the nut? Thank you.

At the moment when video was taken there was no workbench or table outside I could use, since I had glass top table which shattered. Plus I did not have tripod to film it, so I used a car to hold camera. Lighting inside the apartment would be low, and trolls would complain about it. I don't see why anyone would actually ask this question. Video is about replacing a battery in jnc booster, so lets keep questions in this field.

Just like a car battery I'm sure if you kept this in the cold the cold would shorten its life. unless you have a need to carry it along with you it would be better to keep it in your warm house in the closet.

I disagree with the comments I'm reading that says this is a good thing. Replacing the battery in this thing is like saying you get a new shirt when you replace the fabric in your old one. This thing is a battery! It is in a convenient plastic box, and has leads, but its worth is only because of one element, which is, Battery! Replacing the battery in this thing is not a fix for an old unit, it is a replacement, put in a convenient plastic case which housed your previous one. The old one went bad so you got a new one and put it in the old shell. You didn't really fix your old one.

What the heck are you saying? Oh wait...you are drifting around KZbin saying things meant to inflame and confuse. You got me. Good one Ricky.
@ricktipton95633 жыл бұрын
@@geraldhenrickson7472 No sir, I am saying if you fix a battery by replacing the battery, you haven't done a fix. You've done a replacement. This thing is a battery. It's not a device that does an alternative task, and uses a battery to do so. Its task is to be a battery. Therefore, when you replace its battery, you are essentially using another device entirely. This is not meant to inflame. Unless people are inflamed when being shown that which is obvious. This is meant to teach. Because sometimes the obvious is hidden behind simple logic.

@@ricktipton9563 OK. Let's review what we just learned: I put a new battery in my car. I did not fix my car, especially since the old battery was still working. I simply replaced the battery. (That WAS hiding!)

First of (NO) The PCB board was not made to charge cheap low AH Batteries. All you're doing is damaging you're PCB board. #2 you're output is no longer 1700 AMPS. By doing this your going to end up sending it in for a complete rebuild. Those cheap ass batteries will not last very long. If you decide to repair your JNC660 Get the correct replacement battery (JNC105) Or send it in with your coupon to the company and have it fix the right way.
@danfitzsimon98022 жыл бұрын
That JNC 105 is now close to the price of a new JNC 660
