Good as always... Note...Filipinos ARE Asians...Philippines is in southeast Asia...they speak spanish and may have spanish last names beacuase of having a little bit of spanish blood...
@GhostWatcher20245 ай бұрын
Actually they have Spanish sounding names and ans speak mainly tagalog (which is derivative of spanish and older local languages).... because the Phillipines was a Spanish colony for hundreds of years before the USA took it away from them in the late 1890s during the Spanish-American War. (They are now their own sovereign nation though.) But also some Spanish blood in the mix... but thats a bit like saying some black people have white people last names because there's European blood in the mix... There is a Phillipino family (sisters and a couple cousins) that work where i do. The Spanish last name definitely confused me at first lol.
@chriskelly94765 ай бұрын
Before Spanish conquest, Filipinos did not tend to use surnames. They were identified by their first name and then their village name or their title if they had one. The Spanish found lack of surnames problematic so they forced the Filipino people to take on Spanish surnames, chosen from an approved list, with the exception being families of the aristocracy or nobility. I am of Filipino descent on my mother's side and every one of her relatives has Spanish names.

@ronalddelrosario74053 ай бұрын
Ha! That's actually most Asian cultures, I think. Every time I visited Filipino households growing up, the mom or dad would ask us if we'd eaten no matter what time we came. I noticed later that a lot of Korean and Vietnamese households did the same thing. Even some Italian households do that. ;)

I don't know who came up with this concept for a joke first between Gabriel Iglesias and Jo Koy, but this is what I consider great joke copying. I don't see this as joke stealing, because each comedian tells the joke from a perspective that's relevant to them, as well as being two different groups of people.

It is not because they got that Spanish up in them. I’m at one minute and 27 seconds. It is because Spain, I wouldn’t say conquered the Philippines, but they landed there! I saw this Filipino girl had my maiden name tattooed on her arm. I’m Puerto Rican And Puerto Ricans are Spanish native American and black. I said, oh, you, Puerto Rican, she said no in Filipino. I said, but that’s a Spanish last name on your arm. She goes down my dad was that name. That’s when she explained to me how the Spaniards came to Filipino and stayed. Kind of like what they did to the Puerto Ricans . Now Mexicans native American, and Spanish. Just because they’re from Mexico does not mean that is their race. That is the name of the country. Which, as you can tell is Hispanic. Mexicans are not an original race. Puerto Ricans are not an original race. Dominicans and Cubans are not in original race. We have all integrated, either by Hispanic, Indian, and black. so now you learn the history lesson. So the next time you go look at a job application and they ask what is your ethnicity? What is your race? Puerto Ricans and Mexicans have an ethnicity. White, black, native American, Samoans, Chinese, etc. are a race. even Brazilians from Brazil are Hispanic.

🇵🇭 If you'll visit the Philippines, so many places here Still with the Spanish Era Touch. Houses, Brick Buildings, Brick roads, even the names of those Old Buildings are maintaned. Example is the Intramuros area.... There's a City Law i believe that that place has to preserve whatever Spanish touch were still left. There's also the Fort Santiago built by the Spaniards .. I live at Calamba Laguna (hometown of Philippine national Hero Jose Rizal), tourists flock to Rizal's home ... And you'll still see Spanish houses, pictures, bricks ... The touch man..
