And no, you don’t need to be with your best friend just because movies say so. Completely different dynamic in adult relationships. The respect was there. But Both May had different “needs” hopefully you’re old enough to understand that part.

Spot on !! Just because you are divorced you shouldn’t be evil towards each other. Especially, if you have kids it’s important for the kids to see the parents are civil. That’s my personal experience.

I know right, self consumed parents haven't considered their child(ren) mental well-being, if not during adolescence years for their kids, it'll utterly bite them back as they're aging golden years. And they're be wondering where did they done wrong to have ungrateful grown kids, or distancing away from them from their kids - if the kids wants to keep it civil boundaries and keep the peace from all the how the evil parental alienating tactics one another even if they take turns of visitation parenting care, but still feuding over their differences instead of co parenting their kids in a healthy civil divorce.

The LISTENING is the biggest part of that whole deal. Meeting my ex-hubs years ago we somehow got onto the topic of flowers. I said I had never been a fan of the traditional fancy red roses because they were pricy, usually bred to be buds and never bloom, die so quickly and because they didn't bloom never even smelled like much. His first gift to me at my office (lucky me I got to show off), a beautiful bouquet of peach and blush and yellow BLOOMING roses. ❤ I tell ya...it's the LISTENING.

Our home: myself (mom), daughter, dad, and my BF of 5 years. We coparent and all live in the same home for years now. Me and the ex have our tough days of getting on one another’s nerves, sure, but ultimately you make it work for your child’s well being. Emotional maturity can be challenging, but it is a must. I came from a broken home and the effects of how my parents spoke ill of one another (indirectly & sometimes very directly to me ((“you’re just like your dad” or “I hated when your father did xyz/thing that I did)) left it’s mark on my psyche. The guys are better buddies than my ex and I even are. My 14 yr old gets to have healthy, stable relationships with both parents. And, we all contribute to our household in varying ways. If you come from a divorced/ugly split family, you forever feel it in your heart and psyche. At the very least (unsolicited advice time), do not talk ill of the other parent to/around your child. Children internalize criticisms of a parent, as criticism of the child, because they are after all- half you and half the other parent. Kids need to be kids and not feel the toll of adult complications til they’re experiencing adulthood for themselves.

I LOVE Jo Koy! I cringe at some of his "jokes", though, but that aside, the more I learn about him, thus far, the more I love him. I love how his mind works, and obviously, his sense of humor. This sends me over the top, with his attitude towards his family. He plays, like my son, and he's just so real! I really would love for them to publish a book on the nitty gritty of co parenting, with the child in mind. I already have a title for it: "I didn't ask to come here!" It hit me when Jo said, "you have a responsibility to co-parent" and another statement, "And the kid is so happy because of it!" Think of all the people, both parents and children, that could benefit from their perspectives and outcomes, when it comes to the children. They are the future. We owe it to our children, and ulitmately to ourselves; to raise happy, well balanced, compassionate, and intelligent human beings. Like it or not, our generation will go, like all others before us have. You've got to wonder what your presence in the world did to it.

I do believe that being friends with the other parent and showing them a good relationship between parents even if they’re not together is very beneficial to children and shows them how you can still have a healthy relationship and get along.. I tried that with my kids father until he just started with bad life choices then kept pushing boundaries I set and then started being absent .. now I can count how many times he’s seen the kids in the past year on one hand and he lives less than a mile away and has been told as long as he’s not screwing up he can come see them whenever he wants but he never does.. but i tried my hardest for my kids but me and the kids have given up on him.. since he clearly has given up on being a father.. and part of me wants to try and find a good man so that my son will have that good male role model and both my son and daughter will have a father type figure in their life but that’s not something I feel ready for because I tried that once and the man I loved passed away now weve lost my love, their grandparents and their father(even though he’s not dead) And my brother who was a positive role model in their life moved to Montana so Yeah.. I’m still trying to play the role of mother and father in a way but I really feel that a young boy just needs a male presence like that in their life.. anyways sorry I kinda went off on a whole thing there but that’s all I’m done now lol
