The best Joan Crawford looked in the 1940's.

What about Strange Cargo? 1940. You'd like to cut yourself a piece of cake like that, wouldn't you? 😂

Excellent video and music choice. Crawford was robbed of an Oscar, and Garfield was subtly brooding.

The chemistry between these 2,love it .2 of the greatest movie stars ever and Joan Crawford , one of the luckiest and best actresses, broad scope of roles and all these hunky actors Clark Gable, Spencer John Garfield, Cliff Robertson etc. and great actors too. Cool song

Brilliant! I usually don't like when old movie clips are mixed with new music tracks but this is 100% successful. Thanks for posting it!

@SleepWhenIamDead ~ No, inexplicably, she didn't get an Oscar nom for this, but she was nominated for "Possessed" the following year. And yes, you're right, she got a 1952 nom for "Sudden Fear".

this video is brilliant. the lyrics for their relationship and the version of the song is so modern noir, but you made them meld so perfectly. the musicality of the editing is wonderful.

This is spectacular; I love your song choice. Seeing this clip is like watching a hauntingly surreal dream unfold- I could view it again and again. Beautifully inspired job.

Rumor has it is was doing this film that Joan's drinking picked up ...joan may not have been a method actress but she admitted in the frost interview she took parts of her characters home with her...
@tiffythekewlchick34576 жыл бұрын
countess77 yes during this stage in her career she began to heavily drink and yes she said in an interview that an actress takes what they like out of the character and put it into their own self but then she has to find herself again. So she was dealing with that she felt like she was still playing the part. Plus she quoted that "The twin curses of being a star is alcoholism and loneliness. Also, supposivly, Christina stated that around this time, Joan would have these 'night raids' which according to Christina means that Joan would come into their room in the middle of the night and abuse them

John Garfield has the same expression on his face through the whole movie, he and Joan are completely impossible to fathom as a couple

Couldn't disagree more. Garfield could match Crawford for subtlety of expression.

This is like hearing Bjork perform the song. Very different from the original.
@AndrewRudin9 жыл бұрын
Unh... folks.... this movies is ABOUT the greatness of Classical music. And it has huge and hugely exciting sequences of Great Violin Playing. Bjork is a truly inadequate substitute for the score that MADE this film. Jeez... Yet, everyone here seems to just LOVE it. What's wrong with you people? Have you SEEN the film????
@edwardjames509 жыл бұрын
Andrew Rudin AMEN! Well said; I hate when people interfere with the art of classic motion pictures by mucking it up with awful, inappropriate music like his!
@Belacroix57 жыл бұрын
Andrew Rudin I disagree. This shows how still today's youth are connected with classical films, but in their own way. Time progressed and music changed however great pictures like these never fade.

26 minutes into humoresque and still no Joan crawford
@gra-emed36176 жыл бұрын
Andrew Rudin I understand what you are saying. But you have to understand that many people love this film because of Joan Crawford, this tribute is to her not the music. Hopefully another fan made compilation will be made to honour the music :)

The song comments on the film. She was carried away by her infatuation, and her love for him did prove toxic in the end. You can imagine her saying those words. It has the effect of two different time zones interconnecting. I think it's great that you can take an old movie montage and make something new out of it while still remaining true to the essence of the original. Very creative. I still love the original movie, but this exists alongside it.

One of the truly great moments in film coupled with crap music and lame lyrics.....dreadful.
@NBradyful12 жыл бұрын
why on earth would you replace the classical and gorgeous music with this utter crap which doesn't go with the scene at all. This is a defilement and unmitigated disaster. Shame on you. This is horrible.

Horrible voice. Mature actors playing out toxic codependent relationship with baby girl scratchy voice in the background.
@DBLONDGENIUS11 жыл бұрын
you ruined a good movie with that lousy song.............and the classical soundtrack to boot. only youth can do that.

I only sat through this horrible picture because of Joan! She must have been forced by her contract to agree to this garbage film. And don't get me started on that piano guy Sid!!! Arghhh! Every time he spoke I wanted to scream "close your stupid mouth! Just shut it for good and seal the entryway with contact cement!!" What a bloody stupid character to add to a film that was already struggling with itself!
