That would be the stage manager, the late Joe Dicso. He had been there since the beginning and he was on the money with making the show run smoothly and on time, for the most part with help from coordinating producer, the late Audrey Peart Dickman, who had also been there since 1975. She was responsible for the show's timing.

I can't believe how she insulted Joan on Joan and Melissa Jan knows best. Joan Rivers is an icon and she could've told her she didn't like the shows setting with respect. I agree some people can get so Hollywood they lose touch with reality and become disrespectful. Joan didn't deserve to be treated so harshly by someone she paved the way for. Sarah should be grateful.

In my view, this was her peak. While still clever and funny, by the 2000s she’d become the very thing she’d made fun of. She was no longer the New York girl making fun of the privileged over-primped over-tucked plastic people, she WAS one of them.

tf was this commenter talking about? She roasts almost everybody... And that wasn't even the case for other great female comics like Roseanne. AND 'used to'? As if there is this big improvement in comedy now when everyone is too PC, jokes are taken literally and careers are destroyed over the slightest thing
@JWH-014 жыл бұрын
I guess you are one of the perpetually offended crowd searching for the world is sexist angle this time. You state: "women comedians always had to use self-deprecating humor to get a laugh". Not hardly. Gilda Radner was hilarious without it. It isn't gender specific. John Pinette used self deprecating humor. Food and fat jokes were his main subjects because he was so big.
@haranoe4 жыл бұрын
Did anyone ever pay to attend all her shows and find she kept rehasing, sometimes not even caring to warm up them a bit, the same old jokes? I realize it's different now that The Net can deliver you all the older crap by the tons in one single pack, and it's good not having to rely on the newer shit but, still, if the feeling plunges after the same joke is told a second time, after the third... and it's a fucking show, I mean, can we talk?.. you may be allowed to rehash old stuff for pity humour events like random TV interviews but, woman, when you were promoting yourself in a TV talk show to get people interested in your shows, which were your "real" JOB, is that all you had to give, and all you seemed to care about was a new rag and a new hank of hair? Oh, that, and one more turn of the screw on the face.
