This is for me unbelievable. I was very young when I heard/saw Joan as Lucia in 1965 and have often wondered just how she sounded live at the height of her career. Well thanks to “Joan Sutherland Fan” I now know. Absolutely extraordinary, a totally unique voice which makes today’s “wannabe’s” sound like rank amateurs.

I agree- there simply are no TRUE successors to Sutherland, Sills, Callas, Pavarotti and Corelli. NO ONE receives thunderous, “pull the house down” 30 minute ovations as each of the aforementioned did NUMEROUS times. EACH of them achieved MULTIPLE historic performances simply not to be found today

Sadly, look at the mess that Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier or Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton made of things due to pettiness, ego and alcoholism. Richard Bonynge and Joan Sutherland are an professional and personal example for people to follow. That is, except an a**hole like you who is trying to imply something but doesn’t have the balls to say it. What a worthless cretin you are.
