I've been spending the better part of a year studying the french language. Since there is nobody in my community who speaks it, I've been watching a lot of french media without subtitles. The most amusing part, and listening to this makes me notice, is that I've started picking up on the different accents within the language. I have to say. Learning french is one of the more rewarding experiences I've gotten to doing, and knowing everything she sings without having to translate it in my head makes it even more worthwhile.

You should try watching the Opera "Carmen", after studying French for me the first time I could actually understand an Opera without subtitles which is an amazing experience.

"Without him, the world becomes the same again, it looses all its colors and its rainbow its diadem." I don't know about anyone else, but that may be the greatest metaphor in history. It all comes down to the word diadem, meaning, "symbol of sovereignty." In other words, what makes something its own. sight and color are part of what makes the world special, and I can understand that, I would rather be blind than color-blind.

Not many people put anger in this song. I think that it better represents Eponine's character and really makes it a good rendition. E.g. Lea Salonga

IMO, Lea Salonga could take the anger too far and make the character seem cold with the vulnerability hidden. This shows the anger and vulnerability.

At the end of this song, does she say 1. "J'ai attendu un homme" (=I've waited for a man) or 2. "J'ai attendu une ombre" (= I've waited for a shadow)? It would make more sense to say Number 1, but she did reference shadows earlier in the song
