It's unREAL how disrespectful certain repair crews can be. My home used to have popcorn ceilings and I paid someone to come scrape them. They promised me they would tarp everything (I decided to stay with my parents while the repairs were being done) and one night I went to check on the progress and I walked in to discover that they had not tarped a SINGLE ROOM. Drywall dust everywhere.--like even inside my stove. And they acted like I was crazy after I didn't accept their solution of "vacuuming and dusting"

Hearing you speak about the roof situation LITERALLY made me emotional! Like my home is my sanctuary, I can't believe they would disrespect your space like that. That's horrible. And as a neat-freak myself, I would have to remove everything and scrub everything down. WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT? ugh.
the way i was enthralled by this videoooo you're such a storyteller! also, I feel you on the migraines, I'm a chronic sufferer since I was a child and mine accumulate in the exact same areas - at the base of the skull and behind the eyes. misogyny in health care is so real and prevalent! you truly have to be your own advocate and fight for adequate care which is insanity and makes you feel crazy! I'm actually writing my thesis on this phenomenon cause it gets me so heated fr

OMG Joanna.......when it rains it pours as the old saying goes. The house plus the doctor and everything in between, it's no wonder you were stressed. Those roofers were ridiculous. We agree......your landlord should not pay for the cleanup. That responsibilty is on the roofers! It's the worst to have work done on your house and the mess that comes with that! Please keep us all posted if you see your OBGYN and a neurologist and what they say. Sending well wishes your way on that! Glad some happy mail came for you to brighten your day! So glad you are planning your wedding......so exciting!! Sending big hugs!! 😍

Girl. I’m not even done w the video and I never comment but…my jaw dropped when I saw your bed and closet covered in the construction debris, and the migraines and the mood…r u kidding? I would have driven off a cliff. I do not have the coping skills. I *fully get* how upsetting the home issues are and to feel crazy when nobody validates your feelings. And on top of that not feeling like yourself while you adjust to new medication and are in pain and yes, all of it. Don’t apologize for feeling any of it and I’m pissed that the roofer began by saying “you’re not going to understand any of this but…”. And I’m pissed at the doctors. Don’t apologize, don’t minimize how this has impacted you, and do whatever you need to do to get through this and feel okay.

omg I’ve had hormonal migraines since I was 15 and I’m 28 now. Birth control pill made it much worse and I would have like 5 day long migraines before my period. The only thing that has truly helped my migraines is a preventative medication, I really hardly get them anymore and I used to be at like three a week lol. I’m so sorry I know how frustrating it is being in pain and not knowing how to help yourself or fix it ❤

I had a similar experience with migraines. They developed for me randomly two years ago and after taking notes on them I realized they always happened right before/during my period. Luckily right now when they hit it generally lasts only a day. I currently take birth control and have been wondering if changing or going off would help. Anyway, hope you find something that works!

as a doctor I'm so so sorry for that entire experience you had. the healthcare system in the US is absolute trash and i promise most doctors agree and are just as horrified by it. most of us want to do right by our patients but the insurance mess in this country makes it so much slower and harder than it should be. good on you for advocating for yourself, although that's not something you should have to do. i hope the BC pill and new migraine med help get things under control! if you do start to notice any type of aura with the migraine though please stop the pill as migraines WITH aura can be dangerous on OCPs

My sister bought a old house recently (I live with her) and she had it insulated. I get TERRIBLE migraines but I've found that the book In The Flow by Alisa Vitti had some stuff that really helped! It's about eating with your cycle and stuff and I noticed a huge difference in my migraines since I started incorporating more cycle specific foods. ESPECIALLY salmon near my period. It's crazy, if I don't eat it I almost always get a migraine at the end of my period. I also used to have crazy heavy periods that lasted for like two weeks and that's sorted now. (Also I'm not on birth control because I tend to be a granola person and it makes me nervous but it is sometimes the only thing that works for ppl)

Yes to all of this! Not yes to it happening, but to how unfortunately relatable it all is. Had to find out the hard way that project managers for contractors literally do fuck all, and usually don’t show up with the crew. So the crew would just would ignore things that were important, like wiring things before doing all the drywall and then having to rip it all apart once we went to check on them, not knowing we should have apparently been watching them like a hawk the whole time🫠 Medical system too…to get to anyone specialized and to know the right steps to get there is like a board game from hell. One wrong turn that you couldn’t stop or anticipate and then “back to start” Watching your vlogs makes it feel like listening to your friend’s day and all the dumb ppl in it 💕 I hope everything gets easier asap!
