Joanne was a beacon to those of us who value indigenous culture & seek a way to live in harmony with all our human and non human family. I lead a family singing group in Oakland Ca and every year I teach this beautiful song. I thank these ancestors, Joanne & Fred Westerman for the gift of this beautiful song. Even my littlest singers often request it. I am Jewish (not a Zionist) but we are all one family.

Joanne now dances with the Ancestors. I am happy for her. I gifted her Mother, Maize, with one of my CDs. She smiled. Back then I dreamed, and even touched my dreams as I gave my all, not for money or fame. I gave to share the stories of our peoples, our hopes, our sorrows, and all that makes us human. I was attacked so viciously for no reason that I could think of. It was so bad, my heart shattered, my music died, and now... I dream no more. This was one of my last songs.
