@@basedmod2139 cause it’s watered down in most countries. It’s decentralized. You can get a black belt at a dojo in 2 years compared to another dojo which can give it to you in 6 months. (Not all dojos are like that but a majority of them are). Also kicks are more risky. ( not low/calf kicks or snap kicks where the hips are still square with the opponent from kickboxing or Muay Thai) Higher chance of getting taken down or getting checked. And kicks take a longer time to recover after it’s performed. Kicks can work, they just require more setup, and you need to be far more flexible and athletic compared to throwing punches. And it’s more tiring. Kicks from taekwondo just aren’t... efficient. They work, but they’re not efficient. There are advantages, such as more damaging and farther reach, but the risks generally outweigh the benefit. You can’t rely on just one strike or move to end the fight, that’s not a good plan. If it doesn’t work, your just screwed.

There was a japanese fighter in Pride who would leg kick a guy until he was forced to pick up that leg and then shoot on the remaining leg. Lots of strategy is at play.

And this is why you don't just carry a leg. If you don't use it to unbalance the opponent and he gains balance, you are doing half the work for your opponent's jumping back kick.

It simply is one of these techniques that hasn't really crossed over into MMA yet. There was a point in time where your average high kick was considered a crazy advanced technique in MMA
