Saint Étienne is such a huge club, probably one of the biggest fallen giants in the game. Gonna be really exciting. As a french fan, the pronounciations are kinda tough on the ears, but we'll manage lol. Staying over there for a Ligue 1 season could be really interesting, especially for the huge derby they have with Lyon, and because it's very possible to instantly get an European spot (depending of the performances of the team who usually have money, like Lyon, Rennes, Monaco or Marseille)

I hate that part about journeyman saves (it's the only bad thing). You overperform with your team, but your reputation rises so slowly that the teams that would take you are actually worse than the team you're in. Actually landed in Paderborn (they are (not) considered at 4:32) in the 2. Liga. Got them promoted and won the cup because all the strong teams knocked each other out. Won the Europa League as a promoted team by poaching players that wanted to play in Europe. Still, no good club wanted me so I had to stay and turn them into a 5-star-rep team.

@@paddya3304 You could change up the leagues. It's possible to change the leagues in the game during the game (though they are only added for the following season). So you could theoretically start your save with weaker leagues (Ireland, etc.) and reevaluate every season what fits you next.

I was at Auxerre (France) and finished second in the league. Got a lil bit lucky and got the job at inter.. so in my experience you can definitely move up.. whats your coaching badge cause that gives you a way better reputation?

I moved up to Liverpool after 3 seasons at Nottingham Forrest and 3 stars reputation. Coincidentally, before their previous manager got sacked we drew them away but dominated every aspect of that match, so I don't know if that actually did help me or not

Saint-Ettiene is one of the biggest clubs in French History, this is gonna be a lot of fun. I was personally rooting for the Estrela da Amadora job cuz it would be really fun to see Z back in Portugal, but France is also a really fun league to manage in, besides the non-EU rules.

I kinda wish that the primary goal of the save wasn't just to chase success as fast as possible. You'll stay at the top of the game once you get there, and the current level is really interesting as well. You might as well enjoy it here while it lasts.

I'm having the same issue. Pentagon save, fresh off four seasons at Golden Arrows where we won the league thrice, 10 cup wins and a Champions League. and the best Asian job I could get was a struggling CSL team. I kept them up and now we're overperforming considerably but i think they're at their limit. Cannot find a single job outside of it though, many international applications and K-League teams but one wants me. I even have my cont'l pro license!!

Feel like the move Zealand maybe was kinda random, and a downgrade from the club he was at. He was sitting on the 4th or 5th highest wage budget in the Eredivisie, he couldve maybe even been in Europe next season. Unless there's something I'm missing with how reputation gains work, does getting promoted get you more reputation than winning matches in the premier division?

Well, in a journeyman you move clubs for different reasons but a big one is wage. If you want to be the best, your pay should also reflect that you go upwards the ladder. Trying to be a bit more like real life, where you would probably go to a club that offers you much more than your current club. Also, the higher the wage the harder it is to fire you in FM as they would have to pay higher compensation, which makes boards more reluctant to a certain degree.

@@tomiwa2410 Because of FFP a new tycoon owner cant just simply give the club millions and millions. It'd be a slow increase of funds over multiple seasons, and seeing as its a very small club he will not have that much money available to start. That doesn't work for this type of save, where he wants to get to a top club as fast as possible. Saint-Etienne has those funds now, so he'll be out of Ligue 2 in a single season and could very likely compete for european places the next. This is a way faster route to the top.
