Salvation could’ve worked if the franchise would just stop being obsessed with rehashing the plot to Terminator 2. It should’ve ended at 2 and then you can do a prequel with the future war. Even in Salvation, the future war was relegated to a side plot to focus on the time displaced hero who must save the chosen one (in this case, Kyle Reese). Stop using time travel as a crutch.

Just a disgusting film and insulted me with its very existence. Yeah, I'm salty, and I always will be. I love T2 and as a kid I saw myself in John Conner. He is the core of the whole franchise. This film is an insult to that core of the franchise and even though James Cameron gave his stamp of approval - he has a habit of endorsing things for money and abandon his creations, so, no, that doesn't mean anything. He probably has never watched this film and just said some kind words for a quick paycheck. There are only T1 and T2 as hard canon, and if I'm in a good mood I'd watch T3 and Salvation (which is underrated and had potential). As for this, it lives up to its title, 'Dark Fate', fitting for a terrible final film that ended the franchise.

What happened is that since post T2 Hollywood refused to learn its lesson and continued to hire directors that were not up to scratch and what made this even worse than previous sequels was bringing identity politics into it. Complete idiocy and they wondered why it did so bad and they will probably continue to churn out crap sequels with the same crap. It should not be that difficult, get Cameron to direct it with his original script he planned and leave out the identity politics and people will watch it.

@The_Texorcist12 сағат бұрын
I hate dark fate. It just makes no sense when ya really look at it. Good example is the terminator that kills John Connor. Okay directive to kill John Connor… that tracks, no problem with that because it makes sense when it comes to Skynet’s logic so far. The problem is why was killing John Connor it’s ONLY directive? Wouldn’t Skynet put in a secondary objective for the Terminator to use its parts to ensure Skynet is created? I mean it was a terminator that was the basis of the Skynet supercomputer as we saw in T2 and the Terminator in that film had such a tragic ending cause he realized as long as he was around Skynet could still happen. Well… yeah huge plot hole for the terminator that killed John and then just went for a walk. That’s what we call bad writing. As far as the rest it was really derivative. We have a future resistance leader who learns on their future potential, a knockoff of the t3 terminatrix model with a combination of t-100 and t-1000 characteristics, etc. In the end I wish Cameron would have just kept the original ending of T2 with a glimpse of the future where the war never happened, Sarah was a grandmother watching her congressman son John play with her granddaughter. That would ended the franchise once and for all on a hopeful note and thus no sequels.

Devils advocate on some points: Having a “second objective” like doing something to help create skynet doesn’t make sense either because where can a teminator go in the past to get reverse engineered to create skynet? Surely they could rely on backup data from cyberdyne and the hand crushed in the still mill and continue on as usual as if judgment day was postponed. Also, the villain in Dark Fate WAS a better implementation of a hybrid terminator, since it could literally separate into 2 separate enemies, whereas T-X felt like a cheesy WWE villain arc with nonsensical technology and acting that was beyond corny, especially with the E-gasm when she finds John’s DNA. The overall “plot” of Dark Fate is “eh”, but at least it has a more believable dark tone with the threat of the villain compared to softcore Cinemax Fap-bait with Dr Silberman as the only other OG actor in the film.

Dark Fate offered nothing new and made some very bad character and plot decisions. Particularly with John Connor’s death in the beginning of the film. It was more cohesive and technically better directed than Genisys, but that wasn’t enough. It’s a case of a movie trying to have its cake and eating it. Of all the sequels, T2 still is the one to beat. But I’d also say Salvation is underrated, at least that one was different and gave some awesome visuals. How sad your lives must be if you take a movie as a personal attack. 😂 I do, and always, will maintain that if there had never been any other Terminator movies since T2, this movie would've been more accepted. Killing John makes perfect sense. It's perfect machine logic. In T2, they literally said that Skynet sent back more than one Terminator to kill them. We just assumed that only meant the original and the T-1000. But since Skynet didn't know where they were, it sent multiple units to multiple points in time. All the Terminators Sarah was killing were these Terminators. She even says when she meets up with our new characters that she's never seen a Terminator like it before. Because it's from the new future timeline, not the old one. Is it a great movie? No. But is it as bad as people make it out to be? Also, no.

I loved the for John ending. The acting on Linda's face when he dies. You can see the "it's over" thoughts go through her mind. Skynet, Kyle, Terminators and her sons death. The last connection to her son was watching his killer help save a different future That damn slight nod. Gets me every time. She had the whole timeline flash before her face. In one scene. . All of it died with that last t800. It was so depressing. Also For a split second before that t800 fell. Plus the t800 zoomed in to watch her with his last act before death. The terminator sacrificed himself for Sarah and John. So John from the grave still saved a future. I like to think she got that too. I agree with how horrible Danny's actress was and it didn't sit right with Johns death right off the bat. But Linda did knock me out with that acting at the end. One of my fav endings off all time in a movie that I don't really care for. Very odd.

This was a movie they never should have made. If this was a horrible movie, that would be an improvement on what this turned out to be.

Still considering suing the studio for making me sit through this.

It's the best terminator sequel since 2 anyone who doesn't acknowledge that is just bitching because John Connor died. Funny how no one got upset when. John, Connor got killed in terminator genesis. Would that be anything to do with the Mexican characters?

LOL...DF sucked regardless if JC died. People hated the JC revelation in Genisys as well. 3 is the last decent movie in the franchise.

I guess killing JC in Genysis was fine because it happens in the future, and the one in the rest of the movie is a villain.

What are you on about? Everyone hated what they did to John Connor in Genysis. That's ne of the many reasons it's considered a low point in the franchise. You seem to be just making up arguments to try and get likes on YT lol. Also, T3 is arguably better thank Dark Fate. A clearly younger Arnie, more and better humour, most of the action was practical and it had the biggest practical stunt ever up until that point if I remember correctly, a better villain, John was still...you now, John, actual legit tie-ins to the last movie and way better pacing. The literal only thing you can give Dark Fate is visual effects and that's a given due to the time. But I don't think how anyone can say Dark Fate is better than T3. As utterly hopeless as it was I would even put Salvation above DF. It's actually the second from last worst sequel after T2.

What a crap take. The good ol blame an "istaphobe" excuse. The movie sucked and failed to attract MASS audiences. No one cared then and doesn't now. JFC!!

@Thatmikecarter "Terminator: Woke Fate" "Out of the six Terminator films, five of them have had the exact same plot and outline nearly beat for beat, and this movie is no exception. The only difference this time around being all of the protagonists are now female. Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 has now been completely emasculated and is married and running a drapery business (yes, really); the star of the franchise taking a backseat to a 65-year old Linda Hamilton and two other no-name actresses. Instead of just telling a great or original story for once, the film consistently bops you in the face with feminist and illegal immigration undertones, because what this film really is all about is just a lame, "progressive" agenda. I cannot believe that this is what the Terminator IP has become, and I can't believe that we live in a time so stupid and mediocre where something this idiotic and poor gets a $200 million dollar budget. The apocalypse can't get here soon enough!!" There you go.... I broke it down for you. Ya little race baiter!

I feel bad for everyone involved in terrible movies that are put out. So much work put in only to be crapped on until the end of time.
