When I saw him receive his standing ovation it brought a tear to my eyes. In the last 17 years I have had similar struggles. Divorce, being gouged with child support, becoming a single dad after my ex died from a heart attack at 32. After damaging 3 vertebrae, twisting while lifting 85kg (187lbs), I have lived with mind numbing pain for 15 years. For 10 years I slowly gained a kilo or so a year, then covid hit and a damaged my back again. Unable to do any physio or get any sort of priority to see doctors I went untreated. Over 3 years I suddenly realized I had gained over 30 kg (66 pounds) and don't even recognize myself. I cut contact with anybody who knew me out of shame. I have been fighting my own pain to try and get back to what I was.

Brendan walked out on his caregiver of 14 years, and 3 little boys under 5 for an underage Chinese boy toy he met while making the Mummy 3 in China. Afton deserved every penny after putting up with Brendan's schizophrenia, drinking and cocaine use. He burned all of his bridges in the industry single handedly. His GQ interview in 2018 was sheer fabrication. His supposed stunt injuries were caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 when he was drunk and got out the chainsaw, not on any set. He bought his Oscar with 2 PR firms working overtime.

'Gods & Monsters' is easily in my Top 3 favorite films of all time. A subtle, understated masterpiece. His costar, Lynne Redgrave, mentions what an amazing "listener" he is, and he gets to do a lot of that in this film, as yardman and eventual friend to director James Whale ('Bride of Frankenstein'), played by Sir Ian McKellen. Both are equally brilliant. I rewatch many times yearly and am dazzled every time.
