Man, I just don’t wanna CFI because I am sick of paying for check rides lol I see the local examiner so often I’m gonna have to invite the guy to my wedding

Hah ha, it’ll happen soon. I know the feeling. 💸 Some people think Bernoulli‘s principle is what makes airplanes fly but pilots really know it’s just cash money!

I got my private license in 2001 and my dream was to become a professional pilot, however it was not to be. I never had enough money to get enough hours in a week to move forward. I could only fly 2 hours a week and I wasn’t getting anywhere with that. I haven’t flown in 15 years but I still look outside when I hear an airplane go by. I wanted to do agricultural flying.

Do you have time to still do 4 years of military active duty service? The Post 9/11 G.I. bill will pay for your flight training if you go to a college that offers an aviation degree. That's what I'm doing now.

Thanks so much Siegwart Aviator for this video. I’m about a month away from getting my CPL and this video couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ll most likely go on to get my CFI since it’ll make me more marketable and I have a great passion for teaching about flying, but I seriously cannot wait to be sitting up in the front seat of a jet or turboprop someday soon hopefully.

Great video Siegwart Aviator! Very informative! I’m a fairly low-time, Commercial pilot that owns and operates a scenic biplane ride business in Southern Utah. I’ve got around 750 hours at this point and am trying to figure out how I can get to that magic 1500-hour mark a bit quicker. My goal is to get into flying fires as I’m also a retired municipal and wildland firefighter. It can definitely be a challenge to build hours but as you pointed out so well, there are certainly many jobs out there if you just go looking and/or get a little creative. Thanks for sharing this great info!

Sounds like you are well on your way and are willing to go the extra mile to get the rest of them! It definitely can be challenging especially since you may live out in a more rural area but I know you will get them soon. Now is a good time. Companies are hiring again and the covid pause is off. Thanks for watching and good success in all your endeavors.

I think my main question is: Where do I find these jobs? I have a little over 300 hours and I really don’t wanna be a CFI. I’ve looked online everywhere and I cannot for the life of me find anything that will hire for under 500 hours TT. Most are actually around 1200-1500TT even for “low-time” jobs. Any ideas where I can look? Btw, great video man!
@AviatorMark
@AviatorMark 3 жыл бұрын
Network network network is probably the best advice I can give in that regard. Go out to the airports, make your face familiar, go to aviation events. On social media, LinkedIn is best but all the socials can help. I’ve had friends get jobs that had hundreds of hours less than the posted minimum just because they had an internal recommendation or a friend at the company. Aviation is still a very small community so it still is more about who you know than what you know at this point, especially with these low-time jobs. Good question and thanks for watching. I might do another video with greater details about this very topic since it seems to be a point of interest for many.

1200-1500 hr jobs are for pic. with the amount of hrs you have so far you should be looking for sic jobs like sitting right seat in a c208 or PC-12. its a great way to build time until you can upgrade to pic.

As a new pilot I appreciate the video. However I would say that most of these are not an option for a first pilot job. Most of these that I’ve found including aerial survey, pipeline patrol and others want 1000+ hrs. Not really a first gig for a 300 commercial rated pilot.
