Joby Aviation recently completed what it believes is the longest eVTOL flight to date, exceeding 150 miles in a single flight. The 1 hour 17 minute flight happened during developmental flight testing earlier in July.
Watch a recap in this Joby produced video.

For everyone commenting about it being empty 1. They can’t put human being in it till it is certified, which it is in the process of 2. Showing off Autonomous Capabilities

not true at all- otherwise there would be no such job as test pilot!! be real.

@@danf4447 You are right. But they are doing flights with test pilots right now. Still a positive development: Testing the flight characteristics especially in special circumstances remotely piloted first.

I hope they gain the same traction as electric cars. They look incredibly fun to fly and design as well. Please world let it take off. All puns intended

It can carry people they can’t just strap human beings in it till it’s fully certified, this ain’t the 1930’s you know lol Nothing misleading here, following all laws and safety regulations, they can’t wait to see people utilizing their technology This is hella obvious but somehow no one understands this

@@ThisAccountIsDead333 it absolutely IS MISLEADING to give numbers that would never be possible with the additional weight of passengers. You don't need to do this with living humans FFS. In aviation, weight is everything. "useful load". It determines fuel burn, range, ...two things this video brags about...while flying with no payload

solar is really for distributed power, for one square yard (about one square meter), you only get 800 watts or so and the battery probably holds 50 kWh or so :)

@@ThisAccountIsDead333 the additional payload does not need to be living humans, I never suggested that. I wonder how it would do with several hundred pounds on board. Specs would be less flashy, but still awesome and a step in the right direction. Current specs are not real-world because the vessel is carrying absolutely no payload

@@sethbob5742oh so go on and tell me about all these so called dummy-payload tests that MUST HAVE HAPPNED with every single helicopter and airplane in the industry Hint: NO ONE DOES THIS We have a thing called math, so you know, we can calculate it’s thrust, weight, dynamics, etc, just like we do with EVERY. SINGLE. AVIATION MACHINE So go ahead and show me all these payload-tests they whole industry does just to show to little people like you who can’t understand much so they need a pretty picture drawn out for them You don’t see every test, every thing in a 2 minute video, your expectations show the little reasoning in your brain

@@ThisAccountIsDead333 the fact that you replied in such a triggered State of Mind makes me believe that you are probably a kid. You just took a high school physics class and now you feel like you are smart LOL. Well, you have done it twice now where you make assumptions about my comment, and your assumptions are incorrect. No one said anything about all other aircraft undergoing the same kind of test. My point is 100% valid. The specs are not accurate because there is no payload.

@@sethbob5742 Joby has said they fly with ballasts representing the weight in testing but not sure about this particular test. 2018 records show longest manned flight of an electric helicopter as 44 minutes, electric planes much further (manned with 2 pilots) its getting the mass off the ground initially that I imagine draws the most energy
