I used to buy oat bars sometimes and they're great to have with a coffee for breakfast. Ended up making a oat, fruit, nut protein bar at home bulk. Cheap af, easy to make. Oats, fruit mix, various nuts/seeds, whey protein, creatine, sugar/stevia, eggs, a little salt, a little bicarb and water. Mix it up and put into a baking dish with baking paper in there, bake 170 degrees celcius for 25-30 minutes. Let it cool on a rack, then slice into bars, put into a tupperware container and put in the fridge.

On top of that there is alot of debate over the lipid hypothesis so the weight and better overall health might be even more important than cholesterol levels

I’ve gotten into the habit of having a pack of canned chilli in my house too. Is it fresh? No. But if you pick one with low sugar and good macros, it can still be a good source of nutrients. If you’ve had a long day and don’t have leftovers or the time to make a meal the next day, you can just throw some nuts in a bag and some cut up vegetables in one. Wake up, grab your bags, grab a can of chilli, and out you go. It’s a lot better than buying fast food.

I find that if you eat on your breaks you cant get some veggies and fruit in you, maybe a few hard boiled eggs. that can get you to dinner at home. this leaves you open at lunch to talk to others in the lunchroom if someone feels like talking. for lots of workplaces this creates a connection that you dont ordinarily get so its worth it to keep this time aside. talking to someone for a few lunches really stands out in their minds as special I think. especially since most people are eating or on their phones.

One of the best things I did was "Body for Life". 6 days a week, 6 meals a day. So took Sunday off. And on sunday made food for the week. Yes spent 1/2 day doing prep but if you cook in bulk and yes you can bulk and still do different foods. You only use a few pots and pans. So its less work work for that day than if you did dishes every night.

I plan meals for the next week on the Thursday prior (I use an app called Carb manager to find recipes that meet my macros). Sometime either Thurs or Friday I'll go get the shit. Sometime during the weekend I'll take 4ish hours to cook 21 meals, put them in Tupperware and freeze all of it except for 2 days worth of meals at a time. Pack out my bag with how ever many meals I need, pluse snacks (peanut butter, all sorts of nuts, string cheese, etc) a thermos of coffee, and a gallon jug. I can grind the whole day without having to worry about getting a good fuel. Been doing this for over a year now, consistently getting stronger, and I feel like I have more time during the week not having to worry about it

It's sometimes tough as an Over the road truck driver, but one of my favorite on the go meals is to microwave a cup of Minute brown rice, mix it with a can of Swanson Chicken breast, couple hard boiled eggs chopped up, and Frank's Red Hot Sauce. Other than that it's just the usual stuff for me, Protein bars, shakes, beef jerky, Almonds, Pistachios, can of Tuna or Salmon. Occasionally I'll treat myself to some Chicken Tenders, but sometimes I still peel the breading off to eliminate some of the calories from the fats and carbs. Try to get into the truck stop Diner's when I can for my Steak and eggs too (just steak and eggs, none the other stuff that everyone usually gets along with them)

Every Sunday, like today, I spend an hour prepping all the food I'll eat for the following 7 days. Lunch and dinners in Telenti (ice cream) jars. Mostly cold soaked. It's premature laziness. I live in Norway, one if the more expensive countries to buy food, but daily cost is around 2$. The amount of time, money and effort spent grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning is reduced to a minuscule level. If you're lazy and don't like the kitchen -- like me -- this is the way.

It's all about the meal prep. Nothing fancy or complicated, just basic wholesome foods. If you can dedicate 4 hours a week to doing meal prep, you can eat healthy every week. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This just puts the scenario in my head of jocko packing somebody a lunch, then making echo talk it up. "Its a perfectly aged ribeye, cooked perfectly medium rare. An organic side salad with a vinaigrette. Packed in a bag made by Origin USA. Completely made in AMERICA. And there are two jocko fuel go's. And if you don't enjoy every morsel, then Jocko is gonna have you carrying that zodiac by yourself for three miles through the surf."

Doesn't break the routine much to go for lunch with the guys once every couple of weeks - team building and spending time with your peers is just as important to success as a budget and dietary discipline. But I agree, some dudes expect the squad out for lunch to talk shit every, goddamn, day.

Fasting is an option too I just drink atleast 2 liters of water and eat when I get home... If your out in 110 heat doing grounds work you should probably eat though. Oatmeal and fried rice is easy also. Peas, carrots and eggs are plenty of protein with rice.

Meal Prep on Sunday for me... every Sunday!!!! I want to thank myself.... for the discipline that bodybuilding/weightlifting has taught me. I've been meal prepping for 15 years and I laugh inside... so hard when I hear the people I work with that will say out loud, "what's for lunch today". I cannot justify buying lunch!

Blue collar here (HVAC Technician)… I am the only man of 40+ men in my company who packs my own lunch of food that I’ve cooked myself on a day to day basis. The rest of them eat junk food and expensive fast food if they even eat food during the day at all. It blows my mind how little they care about their health and wallet.

jelly usually contains a bunch of processed sugar; instead of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, consider peanut butter and honey. locally made honey is best (for plant allergies, tho wherever it's from, still a thousand times better for you, and it won't drop you energy-wise the ways sugar does. such a banal question, yet what an important component of the day-to-day! gotta say i love the mental picture of a bunch of seals en route to mission in a helicopter, eating pbj sandwiches before rapelling down into wilderness.
