i used to eat only chicken breast, they told me it's low in fat, higher in protéine, it's perfect. But then i met Dean at a chick-fil-a, i saw him eating a full chicken, to the bone, when i asked him: "come on, even the cartilage, why man?", he answered with his own question : "why would you ignore 50% of the chicken body?" mind blown, life changing stuff.

I regularly come back and watch all of your Jiu-jitsu content, it is helpful to refresh information for both life, and for the mats. You and Tim Kennedy motivated me to start training just over a year ago. Jiu-jitsu has become a part of my everyday life, and my only regret is not starting sooner.

1:49:00- relating to training outside of your home gym. My experience with that has been that my main instructor, the main instructor of the school I'm visiting and all of the lower students at both schools have encouraged the sharing between gyms/styles. The main push back I've experienced has been from some of the junior instructors at the school I was visiting. I'm not totally sure where that resentment came from but I think it's split between those who wanted me to abandon the person I had(in my story) been training with for 10 years and those who resented the fact other schools had developed a curriculum worth studying

On par with watching Bas Rutten at Pride Fight implement a forceful liver kick is this full spectrum interview with Dean. The perfect fighter would combine Bas' liver kicks, Dean's boogyman leg lock submissions, and Jocko's full spectrum fight knowledge and dominance on land, air, and sea. Incredible interview with a real live boogman and UFC road scholar. More interviews with Dean please with you two in the octagon or on the mat demonstrating fight offense "chess moves" and defense techniques in this fascinating arena. Bravooooo!!!!!

The Way referred to in Musashi is the same Way referred to by Sun Tzu which is a reference to the Tao te Ching of 3500 years ago. The quote itself in Musashi is from this. It was like a primer for awakening wisdom within yourself. Things like "When Laws prosper, so do bandits" Drug war sound familiar? "Can you be as vital as a baby and as soft and careworn as an old man." It is .. ahh hell, go read up on it, man. Like Discipline Equals Freedom.. its a field manual. FM31-21

I think the comma is supposed to come before the word broadly which changes the context of the statement completely. I think what it means is when you see the way acutely, you then see it and everything else "broadly"

Jocko, this should be given careful consideration. There’s layers to this post. Just finished # 137 today. I’ve been listening since Wooden Leg. I’ve even gone back and listened to almost all the episodes before #45. That being said, I’ve got a humble and imporTANT suggestion. Echo is gonna like this. Sir, lightweight hoodies are needed. Maybe Echo hasn’t been able to adequately give you the “why”. But, I think somehow Echo just knows but doesn’t understand why he knows. Let me explain. Im 32 and live in West Michigan. I’ve been working construction since I was 15. I work outside most every winter. Last winter I was framing and siding. Over the years I’ve found staying warm thru our long winters can be very difficult. I’ve found, it’s all about the layers. That’s been Echoed before. Check. But, my layers are different depending on the job and the degrees. Lightweight and heavyweight hoodies are like gi or no-gi. You must have both to survive the winter months. The long hard dark months of life. I usually don’t wear winter coats unless it’s under 20 degrees or I’m not moving much. So, I’m total layers. I even build in layers. I double up lightweight hoodies all winter long. I have layers under my layers. And when it slowly warms up, I can dispose of my layers and still represent the layers. I can see the layers and would like to wear in layers. Out.

Danaher seems pretty arrogant (JRE), and I don't think would be humble enough to admit to Jocko that Dean and Jocko were creating moves and doing leglocks before he made it popular. The lack of humility makes him uninteresting IMO, or at least that is how he came off to me on JRE. Disappointing frankly.
