He seemed to do a pretty good impression of it. 😂 I was thinking of a past commenter that said Jocko probably says “stand by to get some”, and the hilarious pairing of the two.

These podcasts are a treasure trove that future generations will be able to look back on for centuries to come (provided we make it that far). Imagine having this sort of resource from the perspective of Ancient Roman legionaries or Ancient Persian soldiers etc. Kudos to you for getting this stuff down on the record Jocko, much respect. Keep going. If anything, widen the net further, get more people in from allied forces that you've worked with etc...

You've gotta let the kid tell you. I've been in situations where a kid takes a fall and they look like they didn't like it. I tend to just try to be calm, have a still, normal face and nonchalantly just ask "y'all good?" Sometimes the kid's been like "... yep!" and I'm like "great!" and we carry on. I've also seen situations where the kid just starts bawling or clearly expressing hurt. I'll tend to that rightly. Once I remember walking by a mother playing with her daughter. Her daughter takes a scrape on the cement. The mother's like "nice one!!" The daughter starts bawling and exclaims "no mommy! Not a nice one!!" The kid knows how she feels. The mother - clearly - wanted to encourage strength and wasn't trying to neglect her daughter, she really seemed loving and involved. But at that moment the mother was accidentally gaslighting her daughter (as does a parent who suddenly exclaims in terror and inflates the child's terror!) Our reaction should come after the kid's reaction, and should be informed by their reaction. Prior to their reaction we should as you say, not add fuel to the fire. Be balanced and inquire in an even-way. The kid'll know at that point whether they care enough to react or not to that tumble. Then we match the gravity of their natural reaction with the right level of care.

Thank you for doing this. My only suggestion is could you light your studio such a way that we can see both you and echo's eyes. Visuals where eyes are in the dark, tend to be distractive as you strain to see them. That is our basic form of communication.

regarding that noise: I and other women in my surroundings do not make it upon encountering interesting things. I would make it in the kind of situation when something negative unexpectedly happened, not necessarily a threat. But for interesting things, I make the "huh" noise.

M M Teacher Jocko, is in my understanding explaining differences in soldier's going out and shooting with no mental control, Teacher Jocko is trying to say to keep control of emotions a clear mind with trained focus and directed action, not letting emotions control , execution of focused technique in most effective way. Difference between brawler and true warrior Budo Spirit. You either understand or do not, depends on your leaders or teachers and personal reason for being a "Warrior". are you a SOF or doing for Honour. ? I am talking from real experience. Jocko has it. He fights with honour.

I had to pull over so I wouldn’t die from laughing over the wife “huuuuuuuu!!!” noise discussion. My wife does the same thing and it sends me a rush of adrenaline every time while I scan in all directions only to find out she just remembered she was supposed to make a phone call for swim class or similar not important/life threatening thing undeserving of such a noise.
