Absolutely!!! Jocko would be the President our country needs, and his running for it would be the ultimate sacrifice for the country. But it is hard to ask more from a man who has given so much already.

Actually I think being in office would hinder Jocko. He has way more reach and influence now. I'd like to see him vetting certain candidates as a way for the troopers to get behind them. Not R or D but good populist candidates who care about the nation.

I'd have to know more before supporting him for public office. Being a warrior or anything else is not automatic qualification for public office. A "break glass in case of war" kind of guy does not automatically make you a good public office holders. I'd need to know lots more.

Really enjoyed this one... or listening to jocko period. I work as a machinists at the bottom of a company in training. Up at 4 am, 10-11 hr days in either TX heat or cold. Consant dust haze ( wear a respirator) and in these conditions I really enjoy hearing these stories. Help me push through. after work im cycling or running and on Fridays after work I do 10 mile runs. Get after it!

Hopefully this guy does better than the last guy… I feel almost violated by the fact that I listened to his interview on here and watched him completely about face. And he’s way more personable than this guy. I guess that’s why things turned out the way they did. If you know, you know.

I'm a drill rig operator, and when I was in high school I'd only heard of oil drilling. Geotechnical drilling is a cog in the system that will never go away. Sure, be the engineer that went to college and designs buildings and puts dirt in jars. I found this job at 23, and I'm 30 now. High school diploma, no college debt, and my experience in this field weighs it's weight in gold. To all you drillers out there oil, wells, thermal, geotech, we got something that this new generation doesn't have. To any kids that might read this, college isnt for everyone. All you need to do is show up, put your head up not down and learn from your elders. Half the battle is showing up and the other is being early not late. Being on time is the most important thing, and trying. You do those 2 things, and you will succeed

Your value is beyond a dollar amount! All the gold in the world can't buy experience! It's the one thing that you can only get through EARNING IT! There will NEVER BE AN APP FOR THAT! FACT! When someone says flute not everyone thinks high school band! Lol

P.S. I started as a QC and this is now my fourth year as foreman. I can't describe how the leadership lessons on this podcast have helped shape me as a leader. I feel like leadership is something you have to continue to use and improve on or you'll loose it, and bad habits are easy to obtain.

He should be at the every top of your list of friends, partners and future interviewers. thanks for you amazing time together for us all to enjoy. I’m sure it was only through much hard work of good men that the world experienced a 77 year rain of peace under The blessings of the USA. If the USA goes down the world will go down with it. In Canada we say God keep our land glorious and free. But there still need be many good men to keep it so. And the less there are the more it’s not, so every one thank you so much for doing what you can with what you’ve got. I for one have been much inspired today to do what ever I can with what a God!

I was 26 years old working at an airport. It was about 100 degrees outside and I had to dump the lav from a plane full of people who came from Mexico. Watching them smile and walk away as I dump their shit from the plane into a cart was that “this sucks” moment for me. Went back to school and got my mechanics license within 18 months. That was almost 7-8 years ago. That 18 month school sacrifice changed my life.

I never dropped out of school and graduated early at the same time I was working. I watched adults shoot up heroin in front of me asking me if I wanted to do some with them. I have been following the new freshman Congressman Van Orden for quite sometime now. Great podcast. He affirmed many ideas I had about him. We the people gained a great representative. I go on Hunt / Fish trips in Ferryville WI, 20 miles or so upriver from Prairie du chiene. It is a beautiful part of this great country. I have considered retiring up there. The river and ecosystem is pristine, teaming with wildlife and vegetation.. Hopefully, the good congressman can bring back quality outdoors gear to his region and Jocko can become involved, Made in the USA gear. There is so much hunting and fishing equipment, apparel that is junk from China. The outdoors sportsman pay an exorbitant amount of taxes to protect and utilize our resources. The tax goes up every year it seems like and the public hunting in fishing areas get smaller every year. Happens all the time all across the states. Where is all of that money going? It is a lot...A federal duck stamp is $50 now. State duck stamp, hunting permit, fishing permit, launch permit, tags, on and on. Don't get me started on ammunition. Jeeezus.

Great discussion. I enjoyed learning more about "DVO's" career in the SEAL teams and his political ideas. I voted for "DVO" in 2020 and will do so again this year. He really gets out and around his district and seems to be everywhere at every time. I met him twice. He is authentic and the right guy to send to D.C.. What he said about Ron Kind is 100% spot on. Many are very glad that, that Democrat is gone. DVO's opponent this year was Kind's coffee boy for years.

Hope Mr. Derrick Van Orden doesn't forget the numerous Native American citizens/voters in his state (Wisconsin). Talk about growing up in hard times - where they were forcibly put on 11 reservations and "administered" by the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs based in DC) "Wisconsin is home to 11 federally recognized tribes: Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Ho-Chunk Nation, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin, Oneida Nation, Forest County Potawatomi, Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, St. Croix Chippewa, Sokaogon Chippewa (Mole Lake), and Stockbridge-Munsee,15 in addition to other, non-federally-recognized tribes. Each tribe maintains a government-to-government relationship with the State of Wisconsin. Also, each tribe has its own unique peoples, languages, and spiritual and health practices, as do all the more than 500 federally recognized American Indian tribes". Native Americans have the highest percentage, per capita of representation in the US Military (all branches) of any racial/ethnic group in the USA. If you have never been to their pow wows I highly recommend them. I danced with the Menominee for years when the certain Lakota WiWayang Wacipi (Sundance) members shared their ceremonies to help fight the mining of sulphur in the Wolf River. Beautiful lands and people. You never mentioned them in your discussions-why? Have you forgotten them as an important part of your constituency? Hope not. You can redress it now. Find a member to invite you and talk face to face. You would have much in common-especially with the Vets. There is much need there, too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4KXdWaGlrB4e8U

decades ago I always thought "wherewithal" only referred to money but apparently it has a wider definition as lately I've seen it used as Jocko is using it. From webster: "Wherewithal is a noun that means the means or resources a person has at one's disposal, especially money. It comes from the combination of where and withal, which used to be a conjunction or a pronoun. Wherewithal can be used to refer to something that is necessary to do or achieve something."

As soon as he criticized the military leaders as woke, a received a news notification that the army is looking to rename many of its forts with confederate ties.

I don't agree with his politics but he seems like a legitimately good guy and that's honestly all I'm asking for at this point from a politician. hope he can walk his talk

I love my Jocko podcast, but this guest was the most annoying guest in Jocko podcast history. First, if someone keeps mentioning that they don’t have a big ego, it means their ego is huge as this guy’s ego obviously was. Second, this guy kept misremembering dates on his own timeline, couldn’t piece together what happened next in his life. Everything he was saying was couched through the lens of a politician making himself look better, his whispery voice talking about how he has the best team. Uggg. I found mr. Van orden very inauthentic. I would not vote for this guy for town rat catcher.
