Fell into the Stryker Meyer podcast while painting my house two months back. I'm hooked, training, reading, podcasts and now have come up with a plan to progress at work. I am grateful to be listening and learning.

Came here after an argument with a family member. We're not going to attack heavily defended positions any longer. It was definitely a dumb argument that didn't benefit anybody. Great advice jocko and echo

This is my favorite podcast, no one is as real as this guy. I want to hear Jocko's opinion on US's involvement in Vietnam. He grew up around vets who were there and showed him the ropes about the military, I wonder what he thinks about the endeavor as a whole.
@truebornsonofliberty5548 жыл бұрын
What do you think he'll say. Brave men had a job to do for their country. And they did it. You want him to get political? A man who dedicated his entire life to serving this country?

Great podcast, always knowledgeable. Always seems to hit home on what I happen to be thinking about or dealing with at the moment........especially this time on regrets there at the end of the podcast. They surely can drag you down, and make you miss out on what you have going for you, ie. children, family, friends etc........ Looking forward to more, always makes me want to be and do better each day.

29:10 Simple....but remember Simple and Easy are NOT the same. It is simple to work out in the morning, just get up earlier, but if you want to know how hard it is...just wait until that alarm goes off, then suddenly the difference between simple and easy becomes starkly apparent. Simple does not mean Easy.

Mr. Willink I, have a question. The one thing that stands out at me when I see the SEALs do their thing is that they have the ability to learn things really quickly. Mr. Heben once said on a tv show is that he can learn all about a certain subject in one day. Essentially, my question is, how do you guy learn things so quickly? On the Discovery Channel, I saw a class learn things like demolition, or marksmanship or shooting, all sort of stuff. How do you not get bogged down or get lost in the material and how do you do it so darn quickly? Also, how do you do those "rolly polly" pull up clime on those multi level wooden platforms?

I wish Jocko would have given an example of what "flanking" looks like in a pragmatic sense. Like when the wife uses her buzz word, it seems like saying anything at all or even just remaining silent is going to make them even more angry.

One comment about "temper". Losing your temper is not a sign of "weakness". You'll never be able to control your temper through the sheer force of your will...no matter how "tough" you are. And no amount of "reasoning" or "logic" will help you to control your temper. The bottom line is that we lose our temper because we're sinful humans. The root cause is that we set ourselves up as idols, and we lose our temper when we feel we aren't being "worshiped" properly. The ONLY true cure for a "temper" is true salvation through Jesus Christ (of the Christian Bible). When we correct the hierarchy in our lives - putting God first, ourselves last, others correctly placed between, we can actually start to address any temper issues we may have, regardless of how bad they are.
