The Moghuls were outsiders to India who claimed Mongolian ancestry from Tamerlane and Genghis Khan. Not just in India, in many places when their are outside rulers, they tend to be cruel and uncaring of local indigenous cultures and peoples. The Moghuls, like most outside colonizers, ran an extractive economy that took from the local people. Contrast that to indigenous empires like Ahom, Chola or Vijayanagara where living conditions for the average person benefitted.

The films she named were not claimed as "Based on true story" it was just a movie. See people are real sensitive about such factors and can't appreciate art. This movie is just a story, and a story is completely one's perception. The movie makers made this film based on thier perceptions, never on the facts and never claimed. If you miss judged this, and if Akbar for you is Hrithik Roshan, you should probably blame your history teacher for it.

As she said, for viewers a fiction presented as history will become real history for the viewer who is unaware. This is because viewer will not be able to filter what is real and what is fiction. So since it sets rhetorics and changes people's idea of reality, hence can not be called art for sure. Can be called a propoganda though.

I don't understand why people have so much fascination for Kings and Kingdoms . Concepts such as Humanity , human rights etc didn't existed back then .Killing someone was a sign of bravery and power . And yes you are right there is no difference with todays politicians . It's because Kings , politicians represent the evil mindset of masses whom they represent . People make Kings ,politicians as hero because they fight for their evil causes . You can take the example of todays world leaders .

there were instances of Hindu kings destroying Buddhist temples and monuments in ancient India. In the past, there were occasional conflicts and tensions between Hinduism and Buddhism, which led to instances of temple destruction and desecration. One of the most significant instances of temple destruction by a Hindu king was during the reign of King Shashanka in the 7th century CE. King Shashanka is said to have destroyed several Buddhist temples and monuments in present-day Bangladesh, including the famous Mahavihara monastery in Nalanda. There were also instances of temple destruction and desecration by other rulers and empires, including the Mughal Empire. For example, during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb, several Buddhist temples and monuments, including the famous Sarnath stupa, were destroyed or damaged.

Watching a movie expecting that it's true story is kind of funny, that's why the disclaimer is given at the start of all movies...am not saying movies won't influence ppl, it will influence that's the fact, but art is art, the creator has some freedom he can twist and turn it...the movie is evaluated not by its exact minute depiction of facts only it's about the art form, acting, techniques and if it's not distorting the facts completely then it should be okay. Now what is the truth, no one really knows... Everyone are good for someone and bad for someothers, all kings with some ambition were cruel to many masses, they used to conquer, kill, rape and use ppl. They ruled as they seemed fit...many raided other territories including the Marathas, Tippu, Cholas, Guptas, everyone...that was the way of Life then. What is treated as greatness or what defined greatness in those times were whether they ruled a massive territory or whether they were feared and respected by the majority... whether they commissioned great art and architecture during their reign...whether their Cities were renowned and multi cultural and that was the norm...in that aspect India had many great kings and Akbar was one of them. So if u say some king was cruel then including Ashoka they were all cruel to someone at some point...and no one is great...anyone with power over masses tend to use it.. against them...that's the fact. Depiction should not be biased that's true, and to an extent i can understand what's she sayn but i think she is also biased...
