Isn't Sam in his early 20s? I always assumed that the only bachelors that are well over 20 are Harvey and Shane, Harvey being in his late 30s, early 40s and Shane being in his early 30s. It actually makes sense that Sam is in his early 20s or even younger. Vincent is somewhere between 5 and 8, Jodi might be around 40+ as would be Kent. She herself said they rushed into things, she didn't have a chance to be youthful. So let's say they were 19 to 20 (or we could be a little more drastic and say she was 16 and Kent was 18, just drafted), they were young, he soldier and she full of fanciful feelings, she got pregnant and they had to marry (what else to do in a small town). Vincent came a lot of years later when they were actually ready for a kid. I wouldn't actually put Jodi in the depressed bracket, but in the midlife crisis one, BUT I'm no expert so yeah.

I mean a quick way to look it to look at the simple bread recipe. A single wheat flour would sell for 50G while a single bread sells for 60G. However taking into account wheat seeds cost 10G and you gotta spend time growing and harvesting them and then getting a mill to turn it into flour that wouldn't be the best investment. Looking at something more complex like a spicy eel you can sell for 175G and the ingredients at base quality are 40 (hot pepper) and 85 (eel) in total being 125G. So at base quilty a dish like this would be worth more cooking than the ingredients HOWEVER that's if you're at the base quality and no perks increasing their price. Fisher puts the eel up to 106G at base quality then angler boosts it up to a nice 127G. Tiller boosts hot pepper up to 44G making the total 171G at base quilty but by the time you have those perks you should rarely get base quality making things like that not worth it. So outside of energy and buffs they aren't worth much (I could keep going but I think this paints a clear picture)
