Nobody liked the outcome but it still was great, because it was amazingly written and executed. It was surprising, emotional, Made sense and wasnt out of character. But the entirety of Season 8 is rushed, full with plotholes, lazy writing, inconsistensy, Plot Armor and out of character moments. There is no excuse for bad writing. You can make a bad Film out of a good Script..but you cant make a good Film out of a bad Script.

The realm was better off before Dany came over. Jon's real name means nothing. Sam stealing books meant nothing. Bran is useless except to confirm Jon's lineage. Dany going North was pointless except to give the Night King a dragon. Vary's vision in the fire was pointless. The Golden Company was pointless. Jon being resurrected by Melissandre was pointless. Jamie's redemption arc was pointless. Melisandre leaving in season 7 was pointless. Sansa hating Dany for no reason is frustrating. Tyrion is an idiot now. The White Walkers motive is still unknown. The White Walkers stealing kids is unexplored, just briefly touched on. I still don't know if Ellaria Sand is alive or not? Cersei is no longer playing dirty. Arya is the star of the show for some reason. Yara didn't show up to fight Euron's ships. The northern army for some reason are psychopaths and rapists. Did D&D even watch the show before writing the last season?

6x10 winds of winter man, the last good episode of game of thrones and one of my favourites. Cersei with the wild fire, tommen's death, R+L=J revealed, king in the north 2, Cersei's coronation and the long waited Dany's departure to Westeros. How bright the future looked man, I look at me then, all hyped up for the lasts upcoming seasons, and all I can say is...poor summer child, you know nothing. Edit: Oh and I forgot the most important, your reaction to that episode is the GOAT.

the show was destined to fall apart because they cut out alot of stuff from the books that will clearly be important in the end of the story. characters like lady stoneheart, cold hands, leaf and moqorro also locations like the isle of faces and the red witch tower of volantis even the horns (dragon horn, kraken horn, the horn of winter) were all set up in the book for the grand finale. the show trimmed around all those things so now they have to make up their own ending and it feels rushed and empty

Season 3&4 are probably the greatest seasons in all of television.... cannot wait to revisit them after this tragedy, obviously it will not be the same but i can still appreciate seeing my characters at the pinnacle of good writing... it will be bitter-sweet watching that greatness and knowing THIS is what it comes down to... GRRM cannot release those damn books fast enough!

@Evalation HBO didn't confirm the title of the show neither did GRRM, they only released the cast information, he has been working on it with Jane Goldman, who came up with the idea to start a prequel, he has nothing with Game of Thrones, the prequel is a whole new show in the same world on the age of heroes with a whole new writer, he has written many shows with his sci fi genre.

Yeah they are off on that one. If nothing else the general consensus is the merits of that ending are debateable. GoT has entered Lost territory. No matter how many great times it once had this ending was so poorly done that it has ruined the legacy of the show. History will not be kind.

Indeed Shira. Well, everything is a lot different in the books as well. I was never a huge asoiaf fan, but the books just offer you a lot more depth, variety and dots to combine. With how things are progressing, I think that Jody will like them when he'll get to them. aFfC is always a tough one... My least favorite. Two years ago, after leaving the theatres having just watched The Last Jedi, I was heartbroken. That movie in one swift move, destroyed a franchise for me that I had been in love with for all my life. I absolutely hated everything about it (and still do). I needed to rant, to let out my anger (even though that leads to the Dark Side). Was I the only one? I went on You Tube and by pure chance stumbled across your channel. In that one rant video, you guys managed to lift my spirits, and make me smile, even though it was a serious matter. But at the same time, you managed to capture my own thoughts in a way that I could have not voiced better myself. In short I became an instant subscriber. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the same thing happening again. Like you I have been a fan of this show for years. I saw characters grow into people that we loved or hated. And now in one swift stroke all that has been destroyed. I’m sick of hearing “but there were signs that Khaleesi was turning into the mad queen...you just haven’t been paying attention”. If that were so....how come there are so many fans totally hearbroken and all of them saying the same things: “It’s not that we hate that she has turned into the Mad Queen...it’s how she got there”. Everything was rushed....characters have been totally destroyed or made into someone we just don’t recognise anymore, and the storyline itself. Man the storyline itself has been ruined, never to be repaired again. Once again though, with all these videos, as sad as we all are about this turn of events, you still manage to make me smile and lift my spirits. You guys are awesome in that regard, and I thank you for it. And not only that....I get your anger, because I feel exactly the same! Let’s get through episode 6, and see how people will be talking about this for 50 years. We are all in it together...that’s all I can say. For D&D are dark and full of terrors.

Much love Jody, Kode. Great throwbacks and thoughts! . What you guys are going through now, happened to be in mid to late season 5. Mid season 6 is when I gave up completely. So I guess it was easier for me to accept what season 7 was... And now what season 8 is. Although it still manages to blow my mind, seeing how low it has gotten. But I know this pain: Vikings is my favorite show of all time. Not the best though (That is saved for "band of brothers", "the haunting of hill house", "the terror" and "hbo Rome"). But I can't explain just how much it meant for me, due to mainly 3-4 characters and it's tone. Loved everything. But in season 5a, episodes 9 and 10, things started to become different. Season 5b, WRACKED ME. All the potential, all the historical potential we could now use, was vanished. And for what? For plots which the *new hordes of casual fans craved for*... It's scary to see the similarities in what happened to GoT and to my favorite show. And Vikings was created, written and invented really, by one man, Hirst. It was a masterpiece of one guy... No source material (Other than the Ragnar saga), no detailed characters to work with and not even much historical knowledge which is known to us. Still, he invented wrote something different and great, which gets better by the season. But season 5b destroyed it. That being said, in 5b there were lots of very emotional scenes, which really hit me unlike GoT season 8. And the cinematography and acting, all were superb as always. But the arcs and plots, were just dragged in a simplistic mud, in order to use as fan service. Gone were the foreshadowed historical greatness. So once again, much love mates. I know what you're going through. I'll conclude with the words of the great, late Bobby B: "GODS I WAS STRONG THEN"

Yeah, I like what they’re talking about and I love how they think. I just mentioned to read the books cuz they’d love them. I, personally, think danaerys will go mad in the books too. It looks bad on the show because they crammed the last two seasons together when it could’ve been 5 more if done right. Then we’d understand how she went mad over a longer period of time. Which would be more reaslistic than how the show unfolded. So, I would probably be thinking just like them if I hadn’t read the books. I wasn’t trying to be a jerk. I appreciate your comment.

I saw the beginning of the down spiral when Jaime charged Danaerys with that spear and went into the water. I’d questioned one or two things before then but that...I was like bruhhhhh. He should have either been captured or even if they’d shown the water moving fast like he and Bronn were swept downstream but I thought there’s no way Bronn drug his armor heavy a$$ that far away from the fight. From there on I watched with critical eyes instead of wide eyed wonder. Just my opinion.

Not only do we not like what they are giving us now, but think of all the stuff we will never get that they alluded to. One thing I thought after all the hate between Cersi and Tyrian, I really think Jamie should have told her it was her brother who helped him get to her before they died. Hell I would have liked her to know about Jon too. But her getting an easy death was bad enough. It was truly the dialogue that suffered the worse death of all this last season.

For me, seasons 1-4 were amazing.(great story, characters, intelligent plots and banter, etc.) then comes season 5 where things started to decline but there were still epic moments. Fast forward to season 7 where things were rushed and this was where GOT started to drop off the cliff for me. Season 8 is where the ball just hits the ground.

You guys and myself seem to be on the same playing field. What really bothers me is people like Teflon defending Dany's actions and trying to rationalize and justify her actions. He's defending the writers. I can't watch his videos anymore because of his incompetence. Take a map of Westeros and burn it already. The writing in season seven and season eight were trash. This is like watching US Airways A320 crash into the Hudson River, rather than successfully land.

Euron is inducted into the 5 worst GoT characters ever. Ever since he showed up in S7 he's been so wack, he felt so forced in. Episode 3 Season 8 is still my worst episode of the season and maybe the entire show. It was hyped up to be the biggest battle in TV and film history, 55 weeks of filming etc. but it was poorly directed, written and it trashed on the 7 seasons of NK build up, totally disrespected Jon Snow, Arya somehow killed the NK and we couldn't even see anything it was so dark all episode. Season 7 is also probably my least favourite season because that badly written beyond the wall episode, how stupidly out of character Arya was and having Jon and Dany be in love was so forced and still is to this day. Despite the poor writing, Season 8 hasn't trashed any of my characters (arya, brienne, sansa, hound) yet except the Night King, so it gets a pass on being the worst season for me. It's 2nd worse now. If you're Dany, Tyrion, Jaime fans, you will have an especially strong hate for this season.

There have been many moments throughout the show where terrible things happened to characters i cared for. id first say one of the reasons somebody even cares about a character is the time you spend with them. the story gets you emotionally invested in them. the red wedding for example was horrific. literally horrific but at no point was i disappointed in the writing of the show. they made it clear he was in the house of an now-enemy bc he rob broke his oath to marry freys daughter. an action lead to it. did it play it out in a way i expected. o gods no. but it was believable. that painful things happen to characters you love but the characters themselves behaved as themselves. Take theon for example. somebody who goes through incredible an incredible character arc. imagine if we saw him betray rob and later in the same episode get captured by ramsey. imagine we know nothing about ramseys level of cruelty. a sociopath. how do we know hes a sociopath - the show spent countless time showing us he was. if they showed him torturing theon for 5 minutes then cut away and then an episode later sansa comes to marry ramsey, only for theon to flee with her - youd be like wtf is going on. theon just betrayed her a few episodes ago. what makes a story is not how it ends but you carefully craft the journey. seasons 1-4 were fucking fantastic for me. season 5 i personally hated simply bc it was just brtually dark. everything that could go wrong just kept going wrong. the best way i can say it is its the only season i cant sit down and binge the full season. contrast that to season 4 or 6 where its just banger after banger. season and 1-2 a bit slow but youre getting invested in the character stories. 5 was painful but even so that would never turn me away from the show- it actually just made me think to myself - damn the show did such an epic job making me care for these characters who keep dying / having shit go wrong im this emotionally pained watching it. season 6 was also amazing capped off by the the finale which i think is the best episode ever in GOT. From that point on. it was no longer GOT. it was a rushed job to finish a story with little care the details. tyrion who was alwys wise ended season 6 as dannys hand of the queen. then he became an idiot. the best tacticians and players of the game like varys were barely involved. pathetic dialouge and just cheesey storylines. characters doing things out of character. its as if they new the ending and wanted to get from A-B in the sloppiest way possible. its insulting as a fan as it goes everything the show was. an artist cares about the masterpiece he makes. he spends time on his details. imagine somebody 6/8 finished with a painting that they spent so much time carefullycrafting and then all of a sudden they get a phone call to paint something else. so the original painting, this beautiful work of art starts to get sloppy. maybe every image in the picture thus far had a meaning but now its rushed painting just to finish and not leave parts of the canvas white. the writers turned down the option for more seasons and more episodes. they wanted to get out leaving the fans betrayed

I would have made Cersei desperate to hold the throne. She would hire teenagers to boost the numbers in her army. I would also have her steal people's land to build Euron's ships. At the same time have Dany label those same people as traitors. The audience would see the common folk in a lose lose situation. Have Dany kill Varys then have Tyrion carry out Varys's plan. Have Jon slowly become conflicted where his word is on one side versus his conscience on the other.

First off I've been watching your reactions since you started doing your Game of thrones reactions, When the Kode joined you it made the reactions even better, As far as this season me personally the only issue I had is them not showing the reveal of bran telling Sansa and Arya that Jon was Aegon Targaryen, As far as Danerys going mad I saw it coming so it didn't come as a shock and I'm not mad at the writers for going that route.

Great recap, reliving all the good stuff. Also glad you didn’t whitewash how bad the seasons were. Would love that somehow this got to HBO and D&D. Like you said it’s not the actors. It’s not the production, it was not the cinematography, etc... it was flat out the writers. I don’t blame George one bit. When D&D didn’t get any more books from George they should of bowed out, got help, or just said they were in over there head. I am sure George would of come back and helped if he knew what kind of trouble they were in. I know it would of pushed the books back even further, but the tv show is going to now leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Despite how good the books are going to be. Books are great but to see a book be played out on tv is something special and it was season 1-4. After that what should of been special was torn in to little pieces of crap. So sorry that Georges work was treated that way.

Dear Jody's Corner, thank you for being a true long time fans of GOT like myself, showing great love for the actors, cinematography, music that made Game of Thrones great. Most of this season 8, I have thought the writer's did not understand the history, much like some fans who do not understand why others are disappointed. Season 8 has jumped the shark. RTF professors will say "never GOT your series". I know how it going to end as the show has lost its ability to surprise its audience by becoming so predictable and rushed. I look forward to your reactions for 8x6 as I am sure they will mirror my own. Thanks gents!

I don’t have a problem with what they’ve done, but how they’ve done it. Arya being the one to kill the NK doesn’t bother me, but Jon not fighting the NK, all the main characters surviving impossible situations, and all of the armies seemingly being wiped out but half of them still surviving doesn’t make sense. In episode 4 they used a lot of stupid plot devices to even the playing field and kill certain characters to setup friction. Again I disagreed with the execution more than the actual plan and main points of the story. In the books Danys madness is foreshadowed more heavily, and I think her change to tyrant will be fleshed out a lot better. Overall episode 5 actually showed me that most of what we’ve seen this season will actually happen in the books, just in a more tasteful way. Hopefully they can finish off this story in a way that remains faithful to GRRM’s vision.

I see your GOT reactions are getting a lot of dislikes. Smh. I respect your reactions and opinions of the show. Even if I may disagree with them. Your reactions are real and honest. What more could people ask for? I don't like how they are ending this show. They writers had all this amazing backstory and content to work with. They have no damn excuse for screwing this up. I remember when the show Lost ended. It made me not want to rewatch any of the episodes now. Now, these two are taking charge of the new Star Wars movie. Here I thought that franchise can go down any further. The writers could've ended this series with a triumph and now leaving with a whimper. ❤❤❤❤

I wish I had this level of commitment to ANY show, much less Game of Thrones...lol!! The way you talk about these characters as if they're real people is hilarious. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Most of all, my mother who just started watching the show last month is hooked and she just ordered ALL the books...ALL of them! She has never been a fan of the fantasy genre, but now she's hooked. That's a win in my book. Take it or leave it, the show overall was good, but on to the next one!

Wow, you guys are so spot-on! I agree with everything you say!! I love your passion! D&D basically threw a big middle finger at us. It's a complete slap in the face to the fans, the characters we grew to love or loved to hate, and the actors who brought them to life. It's horrible to feel so disconnected from my favorite character, Jaime, that I couldn't even feel the crushing heartbreak I should have felt when he died. They ruined 3 of my 4 faves. Jaime, Tyrion and Dany....strangers now. Thank God the Hound still was recognizable. Its a complete failure and I will never let myself get immersed in another show in this way again. Ever.

IMO, the season seemed rushed and ended prematurely. GRR Martin himself felt the same and said the show should've gone on for two more seasons. It may have avoided this haste to the finish.

I say reluctantly because I was hoping for a "Song of Ice & Fire" conclusion and instead I received a "Game of Thrones" ending that glorified sets, make-up, cinematography and CGI. Season 1 was so true to the first book and that’s why it was so damn good! A lot of the script was verbatim from the books and I loved that as a book reader. Season 2 started straying far from the books and it got worse until they sprinted past all the book material completely. They should have cut what they needed to from the books but still stuck to it more.

One more thing...people who are saying it’s only a TV show are tourists of the show. They watch it for entertainment value and that’s fine but these years and years of layers, plots, subplots, character arcs, fear of losing your favorite characters JUSTIFIABLY or in order to move the story forward. I always refer to The Climb speech. Omg that explained so many things and showed us the depths of these characters! I’m Jody 💯. I’m calmer than I was Sunday night but when I cry over the epic death of Theon Greyjoy and feel nothing for Jaime and Cersei, something is effing wrong.
