How can any black man like the character of Finn? Finn is a bumbling fool who's only there for comic relief. Don't buy into Disney's "diversity" propaganda. The only non-white characters in these Disney movies are totally insignificant. Funny because the old Star Wars movies always had plenty of actual diversity among MEANINGFUL characters. James Earl Jones did the voice of Vader. Lando Calrisian was also a great character who was Han's equal as a smuggler and scoundrel (not to mention he destroyed the Death Star). Mace Windu in the prequels was one of the 2 most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. He killed Jango Fett and he defeated Palpatine in combat. Funny how Star Wars went from that to having a stereotypical comedy-relief token black dude and yet the propaganda machine has people thinking these movies are some big step forward...

It broke my heart to see what they did to Luke's character. The galaxies greatest hero who laid everything on the line for his family & friends and who brought Anakin back to the light, was reduced down to a grumpy, old, whiny hermit that didn't give a fuck about anyone. Also Leia is superman now?! MILK TITTIES!!! WTF?! The problem is at the central core of it all, this is not who Luke is. The man defied Yoda & Obi Wan to go save his friends despite not completing his training because fundamentally that who he is. In these new films, the new republic is destroyed killing billions. I saw this movie yesterday morning. And I left the theatre devastated. It was really such an incredible let down. I have felt depressed, really depressed and not lying about it either. But then I stumbled across this video of you guys, and seriously you managed to lift my spirits here. I seriously enjoyed this so much. I completely understand what you were both saying because I really felt exactly the same. Really who cares about Episode IX anymore. I have been a Star Wars fan for my entire life, but it now seems it really has reached the end. 1) Obi-wan was already dead. Luke had to sacrifice all of he "life-force". This was set up, by Kylo-Ren earlier in the film, when he and Rey were being brought together by (as it turns out) Snoke. Ren says Rey can't be doing this, it would kill her. 2) Obi-wan lacks Luke's raw force power. All the faaaaaacts!

Silver Wolf, ok. That would take a little more of a leap of why Obi-wan could not help Luke v. Vader. Did Obi-wan literal mean he couldn't help him? Is the power needed to help fight 2 power force users (Vader/Sidious), prohibitively more than destroying a tree? I think these are simple a fair questions and provide reasonable doubt. In other words, not just egregious errors of within universe logic. The OT had many potential contradictions within itself that were difficult to make sense of. People used to have fun talking about what things meant and how this or that works. Now, because people "have" to give a strong initial reaction as soon as possible, people (in general) are less willing to be thoughtful and give the benefit of the doubt. If youtube was a thing with Empire came out, the same people would have roasted it. This film gave me a lot to think about, discuss, and question. Time will tell if that is a good thing. Right now, I'm enjoying it.

What is truly sad is that Finn was the most interesting character in the force awakens and he was now relegated to the B plot with the other diversity hires so they can appear to market research. I thought they were going to make him a true hero in an epic moment of character development and a truly meaningful sacrifice and they Deus ex machina'd him out of his moment.

I don't know how it happened, but the Jedi texts were in the Millennium Falcon at the end of the movie. Finn opens a drawer to grab a blanket for Rose, and they're in there so I guess they weren't really burned after all. Also, no one is talking about Admiral Ackbar's death being almost immediately dismissed. I agreed with everything you and Kode said, so there's no need to point out specifics. The most disappointing thing was Snoke's death. I will never see Kylo as an almighty, formidable foe. I've seen the movie twice now and after the first time, I knew you'd be pissed and an EPIC rant would be coming! It didn't disappoint.

Thank fucking christ I was busy with finals during most of the month and couldn't see it, honestly wanted to at first, but then, without reading ANYTHING online at all about this movie, after the movie was released, I just kind of forgot it existed. It's like the force spoke to me and said "don't worry young one, you'll know the fate of this movie soon enough, there is no need to waste time on it now. Focus on your finals." Best decision I've made this month, potentially all year actually. Still watched the movie after seeing the reviews for it, but not in theaters, Pirate Bay all the way. So glad I made that choice, this movie is, in my eyes, an INSULT to the Star wars name, and I'm definitely never going to acknowledge ANYTHING that Disney does or has done with the Star Wars franchise as cannon anymore. As far a I am concerned, Star Wars became an alternative universe after Disney bought it, and that's where everything they do, say, or even think with this franchise is going to stay. No matter what they end up doing with it, short of erasing the last Jedi, the force awakens, rogue one, their novels, and Rebels from their cannon entirely, but I know that isn't going to happen, so it is what it is. Also, I'm never going to watch a Star Wars movie in theaters again, or buy any Disney Star Wars products, that's the best protest I can do to show that I am DONE with anything they do with thid franchise from now on. P.S. For anyone who decides to tell me that I'm wasting my time and that my money not being spent on Disney won't make any difference to them. Yeah, I know that already, I'm not an idiot. Disney is a multi billion dollar company, so they are hardly going to miss my purchasing of their products. But guess what, I could say the same thing for me buying their products as well, one person hardly makes a difference, but if I can convince even one person to see my way of thinking about how not spending on money on Disney star wars is the best and only way we're going to get actual change, than I'll feel like I've done my own part. totally understand your frustrations, when the force awakens came out i thought finn was Kyle Katarn. since he was an ex-imperial/stormtrooper that became a merc after the empire was responsible (maybe Captain Phasma) for the death of his family and discovered he had force powers then became a Jedi. Oh and Jody I HIGHLY recommend watching the Star Wars the Clone Wars series. I know you hated the movie and rightfully so but the show is waaay better than the movie. Especially seasons 3 and onward. Anakin is actually likeable and the show actually shows the inner conflict he had in him and why he disliked the Jedi Council. His friendship with Obi-Wan really shows and the connection they have throughout the show is great. Ahsoka is also one of the best Star Wars characters ever. Her growth is amazing and she's badass. I'm telling you Jody! Trust me it's a great show and makes the prequel era amazing and better than how the movies did it. It turns from being a fairly family friendly show to dark and EPIC in its later seasons. Cartoon Network didn't play any games when it came to sacrificing family friendly for a good story with its necessary violence. I don't want to spoil anything so just trust me and watch it. It would be amazing if you did reviews for this show and I think people who love the show will love it. GUYS PLEASE IGNORE THE CW MOVIE AND WATCH THE SHOW ITS GREAT.

I started watching this movie feeling excited, but as it went on all I felt was bafflement. When the credits rolled I turned to my dad, I had brought him for his birthday (terrible birthday gift.) And said "That was fucking awful." He laughed and said now I know how he felt when he took me to see the prequels. I said "This was worse than the prequels." Just thought about what the Kode said, about a triangle between Finn, Rey and Rose. It really does sound like something Disney would do: Make Rose fall in love with Finn who is actually in love with Rey. Then or course, Rose would be jealous and turn evil to try and get rid of Rey, only to come to her senses in the end and do something heroic to save them both.
