Joe Biden addresses the nation after Donald Trump survives assassination attempt

US President Joe Biden has made a national address from the Oval Office on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump - declaring everyone must “take a step back” and that “violence has never been the answer”.
The 81-year-old earlier in the day confirmed he had spoken to the Republican candidate on Saturday night after he was shot at during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mr Biden said law enforcement officials are investigating the assassination attempt.
He said politics must never be a “literal battlefield”.

If he is going to tell us we need to do this then don't be a hypocrite and own up to your own part in escalating the situation with your own choice of rhetoric. He is equally guilty of contributing to this as well. *Edit* Oh and one more thing. He states that law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation on killer and his motives. While this is important and I appreciate it, another investigation is also needed. I am curious to know how a 20 year old man got up a ladder with a rifle too large to be concealed up to a roof 300 yards away from a rally being held by a former United States President and Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 United States Presidential race and was not stopped (or seemingly even noticed) by the Secret Service until he managed to get five shots off despite civilians and local police officers spotting him and informing secret service agents. If Biden had half a brain in his skull he would realize this investigation would be in his own self interest since this is the same government agency assigned to his own protection as well.
