I would love to see high speed rail from coast to coast, to move both people and goods. It would complete with the Panama Canal in transporting goods across the continent. China is ahead in this but we can catch up and equal or surpass them. It’s fun to compete with China.

I think they should focus on converting gas cars to electric cars. Not everyone has the money to buy new electric cars. And I have not heard good things about the factories use to make them.

They need to be affordable for us in the 90% category...not everyone has a last name like Musk or Gates or Koch or Walton. Working class people are the ones who need this the most-we're the ones driving to and from jobs 5 to 6 or more days a week.

Here's my question. Do most people really need a car? There's major cities that could create bike and walking paths, cutting down the need for a vehicle period. Many cities have already done so. Even in my small town, where I live I don't need to drive at all in most cases.

I agree but this is a good start to get the ball rolling. Plans could change by 2030 and with the automotive industry making plans for 50% they could easily switch to 100% after doing all of the EV research.

Let's not forget remote working and walkable cities. EVs are great but very expensive. What pleases me is the push for lithium/coltan battery recycling as this can also incorporate phones, pacemakers and other devices. Transport will increase the need to recycle.

You may own one, it maybe almost free to drive, but you start out on a long distance drive of more 400km and you don't have the infrustructure and the time it takes to charge, you wil have to add days to your journey. Plus all youi need is an EMP and all electric devices need to be replaced, including the batteries in your EV.

yes SIR thanks for this help in this case if a emergency code to help earth and air , instead of exhausts dropind heated and contamined air we have to make rivers give us those electric dams for clean energy and take advantge of sun to have chargers everywhere so we can move clean and cold and not warming every day we can put our hand on the exhaust of our vehicules and is hot or try to breathe from it we die if a car starts its engine by accident inside a garage so there is a huge change if lear to move on electric way

EVs are definitely the way forward but it's a tiny solution. Countries like China, USA, and Russia contribute greatly to climate change. About 100 companies contribute greatly to climate change.

@@NicholasLittlejohn I agree. I also forgot to mention that one way to reduce our carbon emissions is to improve our public transport. I visited San Francisco 2 weeks ago and I saw a lot of EV buses. I also visited Netherlands and saw that people prefer using bicycles to cars.

People need to stop breeding. We had way worse products when I was a kid in the 60s. Wasn't an issue with half as many people as we have now. People breed like we have a people shortage. STOP feeding the Machine folks. Growth Economics is killing everything. What's wrong with simply a replacement model? or better yet, one based on fewer better products and less people?

Here's an example of how stupid this economy is...we continue to allow Real Estate Development with millions homeless and millions of empty commercial buildings. Every city should forbid any new building until such time the vacancy rate is at least 5 pct or less. Most towns have dozens of empty strip malls and vacant old shopping malls. WHY are they allowing more building? same goes for residential...why do we allow the inner city to rot and allow more sprawl? FIX what we have.

Magnetism is a force, not a source of energy. Think of it like water at the top of a water fall, that water has potential energy which is released when it falls to the bottom. We can get energy from it as falls, but once it's at the bottom we can't get any more, because gravity is also a force and not a source of energy. Once a ferromagnetic object has reached the magnet it is out of potential energy.

@@paulfoss5385 I was going by some research on different types of wind mills/ generators. that uses magnetics rather than gears. Takes very little breeze to get started and it's mostly silent. Stationary magnets and wire inside casing creates a magnetic Field. Anyway It was interesting to explore. for me of POTENTIALS .

But yes electric vehicles are needed as it is better to have power plants and renewable energy charge them as opposed to individual combustion plants doing the work! But it is far from a simple process to convert from gas to electric. 30 years?????? I'll be dead but MAYBE my grandkids will enjoy the new future of transportation!
