Yesterday I watched the documentary "Joe Bonamassa: Guitar man" on Belgian television. My first encounter with this musician and his music, but man WOW I loved it. Mr Bonamassa, you've got another fan for life!!! Therefor it was a great disappointment today to find out that this evening JB was on concert in Ostend, just a 130 km from my home, and I couldn't attend that. Hopefully you'll return to Belgium in the near future and then I will definitely be there! Mr B, thanks for your superb music, love it!!!

I know. I've seen his interview persona and it's completely different from the Joe we see on stage. The Joe in the perfectly fitted suit, hair slicked back, and those sunglasses; he's one sexy dude; he's doing what he does best and what he likes to do most. And he's lucky because it pays very well and he's certainly paid his dues. Some of us are destined to do the more menial jobs in society like being a RN. We're just glad that there are people like you, Joe, who make great music that we can listen to when we get home from work, etc. and you're worth every dime they pay you, probably more.

Why does the blues always make me feel better?
@bigdee25079 жыл бұрын
+hellavadeal Because the Origin of Blues music is actually Slave music and it was sang to make the poor feel better by being honest through music, the trouble,they were going through; the first Blues musicians didn't even know anything about music Theory, but they could sing their Butts Off. Later when Blues was Introduced to the Electric Guitar, it went Viral, People like Clapton and Richards, became friends with people like BB king and now it's considered "The Roots of American Music "
@elefantecremisi8 жыл бұрын
+Bigdee One of the great things about music is you don't have to know anything about music theory to make it work. I know a ton of people who don't understand a whole note from a quarter note, but they can play the hell out of a guitar, piano, whatever. All they have to do is hear it. Or...hear it in their head, and then they've created their own tune. I have no idea when "music theory" even became a term, but I know mankind, and even nature, has been making music from day one. And, to me, someone who can play by ear is much more impressive than someone who understands how to read music and just follows what's on the paper. We do that to our youth, and that's when the music seems to lose that little something extra. They playing all the right notes. But they're not FEELING and EXPRESSING all the right notes in all the right ways. There wasn't much music education in the school systems in the rural south in the 40s, 50s and 60s. And, of course, before. People were just trying to get the next meal on the table. The great majority of the rural areas were impoverished. My parents, for example, were sharecroppers coming up. I find myself today drilling my mom about the proper way to kill and cure a hog, just in case things get ugly in my lifetime. I have plenty of relatives with cattle. Plenty hunt. I can hunt. I just got burned out on it before I finished high school. Ditto fishing. When that's all you have to do for ten years, you kinda get enough. I do need to ask her about processing milk after you've milked a cow or a goat. Even though the feds have made it illegal to drink milk now unless it goes through an USDA approved facility. Pfffft. I'm sick of the feds. And that's why things might get ugly one day. Anyway, I done got off on a rant that has nothing to do with this awesome music we're all enjoying. Sorry about that. Sometimes it just spills over. And that's OK. That's what music is supposed to do. Make you "feel" something. It worked. eheh Later. Visualize whirled peas.

While watching WTTW on Sunday morning and reading the paper, I suddenly heard this music and had to do a double take. For a minute there, I thought I had died and gone to heaven and was surrounded by Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters and BB King. I would have been willing to bet all of my wages that no one with a guitar could have affected me this way. I could not stop dancing. Joe's music went to my soul, like no other has since days of My Favorite Blues Singers, most of who have gone on to Blues Heaven, except for Mr. BB King, King of Blues. So glad Bonamassa met BB.

***** So 2ds and 6ths scare you huh? He could be messing around with modes all the afternoon and still be improvising with succes over a blues track. Also, Bonamassa considers himself a Blues-Rock guitar player but those of us who have heard him jamming blues can deffend his title of "blues guitar player" with more arguments than you. And the "whiteboy contemporary blues" is an odd thing to say, as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Jeff Healey, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Paul Kossoff, Gary Moore, Jimmi Page, Billy Gibbons, Rory Gallagher and Duane Allman were "contemporary blues whiteboys" in their times and I belive they deserve a little bit more than the childish category you made.

Ok sure people can play the blues that don't normally play it. But They can be seen for that.If they don't feel it and it's not in your soul Then no they can't feel it and its not true Blues. As so many of your songs...this one Blows me away ! Have seen you 3 times.1st time was Bluesmoore in Cedar Rapids Iowa .Then Riverfront @ Milwaukee. Then Davenport @ the Adler. I absolute love your style...... Truly love knowing that we are Blessed for having Bluesman and True Musicians like you. Blues will NEVER die as long as we have men like you keeping it Alive .I was truly disappointed at Bluesmoore this past yr. We had 20 yrs. of Blues Artists coming there to have a wonderful day of Blues being played there at The Mansion. Folks chose to stop having Bluesmoore there which was crying Shame !
