No body "gives back" like Joe and he's been doing that since he started. You keep what you have by giving some of it away. He was ALWAYS in Guitar Player, Guitar One giving tips and showing people how he played it. You're the best Joe...thanks !

Great job man. Nice lesson. I would call it an Eric Johnson lick bcuz that’s where Joe got it from lol.But seriously, as you know Eric does use economy picking which is what you recommended and of course EJ was one of the first incorporating the alt picking and hybrid/economy picking. Which is essentially using occasion sweeps and arpeggios in place of alternate picking “saving” effort and therefore advancing speed of the lick. I think you’re a great player and teacher. Keep it up. Wishing you continued success from Texas USA.

Thanks a lot for your message. Of course, we all know EJ is the idol and Joe mentions that he uses EJ patterns. By the way, I’ll prefer economy picking if I play that lick on the stage. But this video is about specific this lick so that’s why I call it Bonomassa lick✌️ Cheers

170 bpm? I can play open strings (2 notes per string) at 140bpm 16th notes (focus on the right hand only as a classical guitarist would do without fretting hand). This is much harder than regular 3 notes per string pattern as I can do them at 180 bpm and higher. Joe and you are high level alternate pickers. 😁

@@Riffeur1 I bought a Blacktop HH Tele when they first came out. Its a Mexican made guitar. I love this thing! I bought an American Special Strat a year or so later. Its also very nice. But honestly, the Tele sounds so nice without even being plugged in, it has great sustain, and about $250 dollars less.

@@F3502000 very nice! I just bought a black beauty Tele! With wilkinson WTVB & WTVN pickups with roasted flamed maple neck! It sound amazing. This tele makes me realize why a lot people prefer Tele than strat. THE TONE on both pickups are just phenomenal. My 2011 American standard Strat is very good for SRV,etc, but the tele bridge pickup has this Fat, Roaring tone, but trebly at the same time. Which i really dig!

@thehumblepundit97902 жыл бұрын
Nice video! Buuuuut...these aren't Joe's licks. They are Eric Johnson's. Joe even says how he copied EJ's style almost note for note. These are all rolling 5s a la Eric Johnson. Look it up.
@guitarmatb1232 жыл бұрын
That’s true but he offered three examples of JB playing the licks at the start? The comment seems to imply he should not make any videos about JBs playing cascading licks because he gets so much from EJ? That doesn’t seem a particularly fair comment to put on a really good video. Clearly JB and Eric Gales for that matter do this and cite EJ as an influence but I don’t think there’s any harm in transcribing and putting videos on You Tube from those players.
@thehumblepundit97902 жыл бұрын
@@guitarmatb123 does he mention EJ anywhere in the video? He should. He doesn't. Give credit to those before us who paved the way.

hmm, I wonder if KWS gets ripped on all over the internet for learning Stevie licks, or Stevie for learning Jimi licks, Weird that Bonamassa gets this abuse when EVERY guitar player learns from their influences......

When you spend hours on hours learning these licks and perfecting them it eventually becomes part of your style, look at Stevie Ray, he was a conglomeration of all his heros as well, most notably Albert king, we all do the same thing. I don’t understand all the hate for joe he’s the goat
