Agree. It makes no sense to me. and he's definitely gotten more enthusiastic in the booth over the last decade. But basically every announcer has. people look at him calling the helmet catch in the super bowl and say that it was a boring call but people forget that announcers really didn't start getting a lot more animated in the booth until 2010 or later. They didn't want to be seen as showing favoritism. Gus johnson trail blazed that to a degree with being one of the first notable announcers to get super animated. I mean go back and listen to the 2001 super bowl field goal call just 6 years before the helmet catch- summeral sounds like he's calling a golf match.

LOL! Bonds didn't realize that his muscles were getting bigger? LOL. You should be a comedian. You are funnier than Richard Pryor. You must really think Bonds is stupid. Read Game of Shadows: Barry Bonds, BALCO, and the Steroids Scandal that Rocked Professional Sports. Bonds had a beautiful swing, but he cheated. He hit 73 homeruns in a season. He had never hit 50 homeruns in a season.
@emmanuelenyinwa1443

@@johndeagle4389 Bonds "didn't realize his muscles were getting bigger". Of course, he did. Your muscles get bigger when you lift weights. When you use steroids your muscles get bigger, too, just much faster. Steroid use makes your muscles grow stronger st a faster rate than your ligaments and tendons, and so the most obvious evidence of a steroid user is they suffer a ton of ligament and tendon ruptures when they run. The fact Bonds suffered no ligament or tendon injuries is VERY STRONG EVIDENCE did not use steroids. The fact he was also tried in front of an all white jury and acquitted is also damn strong evidence.

Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs in 8,398 at bats. It took Hank Aaron 12,364 at bats to hit 755 home runs. Babe Ruth is the TRUE home run king, and if he didn't spend many years as a pitcher, he'd easily have the home run record right now. It would be an untouchable record, like many of Wayne Gretzky's are in hockey. Bonds or Aaron couldn't hold Ruth's jockstrap.

So Buck’s “aw shucks” McGwire story is: McGwire, who has admitted using PEDs obviously because they help you hit lots of home runs and hit them a long ways, couldn’t understand why anyone would be interested in watching him hit lots of long home runs in batting practice. Yeah, real humble guy that Mark. So humble he stole the single season home run record from Roger Maris by cheating. That’s a real humble guy.

Figure McGwire wasn't that full of himself because he knew his numbers were enhanced. "You're hitting them farther than anyone else" ("that's because I'm like the prior power hitters, but with hormonal enhancement, so it's really no big deal"). At least he has a conscience, though. Here's the bottom line to so-called 'PED' users--if the LEAGUE does not produce a failed test, then it is slander/libel if they do not admit. That's the bottom line. It is the league's job to discover and penalize these guys if they use, and if that doesn't happen, then we have no right to say otherwise when their career is over.

Sure, but, the reality is that pro athletes who reach Bonds' stature have people in the form of leeches, hangers-on, fanboys, autograph hounds, etc, coming at them ALL THE TIME. So what that he didn't make time for Joe F. Buck and likely just wanted to be left alone. Is that not the desire of "a normal human being"? He should be required to make himself available to everyone just because they approach him?

People are people. He's not a God or better than anyone else. If Baylor introduced somebody to him and he acts like an asshole then fuck him. That's why I have no sympathy for how Bonds is viewed by others. Once and asshole always an asshole.

"To everybody"? Sure, if by that you mean the kind of people I described in my comment yesterday. But, not "everybody" is as immature as you are. You probably enjoyed Game of Shadows. It was written for people just like you.

Barry Bonds is a jerk but Mark McGuire is a reluctant hero and Joe Buck respects him for that. I think I know what Joe is trying to say without actually saying it. There's a lot of this going around these days. If folks like Joe Buck continue to be allowed to choose Baseball's HOF then baseball's HOF will continue to be meaningless.

@@billbommarito as a bonds Stan I disagree with the racial angle ur hinting at The problem is Barry isn’t fake polite with everybody he meets and can be seen as abrasive, also his arrogance although well desvered is off putting to some Basically because bonds isn’t Tony Gwynn the loveable polite Everyman it becomes impossible for some to route for him and for others it makes them hate him so much that they refuse to give him credit Similarly with Floyd mayweather, there so so good and equally so hate-able to people, that it drives them crazy trying to discredit them.

The Babe is the homerun king !!! How many would he have hit if he had the same at-bats as Bonds or Aaron ??? I think he would not be far from the number 800, maybe even surpassing it !!! Imagine The Babe on steroids and not on alcohol.....that would be a sight to see

Willie Mays took a black beauty before every game, they are now called speed. Doesn't diminish what he did. Stats are stats, Bonds has the best hitting philosophy that I have ever seen. It's worth researching if you're interested in hitting or coaching baseball.
