Steriods DO affect SKILL. Steroids help you to recover faster and have better stamina. This allows you more time in the week to develop your skill. So lets say a guy not on PED's can put in 3 intense sessions a week the one on PED will be able to put in 5 sessions a week i.e. more hours. PED's dont give you natural talent and intelligence but enhances all other aspects.

@Hunter Morin Because he was good and a cheat on top of that. No one is denying Bonds did not have skill. He was probably the best even without steriods? Or maybe he took better steriods or had a better method of taking them. I can put 100 arguments to answer your question.
@successfulinternetpsycholo76855 жыл бұрын
@Hunter Morin It just means Bond was extremely talented. Probably the most talented guy around. But also incredibly stupid? Because he could possibly have been better than anyone without PED's? Or he went way overboard with them? Again I am not an expert in PED's as I have never tried it so cant really say what effect it has for sure. I am going by what experts say. It might be possible that some guys get a bigger boost from PED's than others would. Now this could be something based on a number of factors e.g. because of your genes you get a bigger boost, because of your style of play (more power based) it gives you a bigger boost etc. I am not sure what your overall point is? Can you clarify the point you are trying to make? I am simply saying that in certain scenarios taking PED's can help in your skill. Now this might not be relevant to all sports but I can relate to this to some of the sports I participate in. One example is jiu jitsu. I would love to train twice a day, 5 days a week. I cannot do this because I need time to recover. I train 4 times a week but only once a day. If there is another guy I am competing with that takes PED's which enables him to train 5 times a week, twice a day he is going to develop quicker. Ignoring the physical benefits of PED's such as strength and power just the fact he can train more than me gives him an edge. So my argument was that PED can also allow you to develop greater skill.

Chevyblock 550 Haha, Bonds, a notably weak-throwing left fielder, had a better arm than Ruth, who was the premier left-handed pitcher in baseball and played right field?? Show me the numbers to support that silly claim. How old are you, 12 and a half? Nobody who knows shit from tar is going to argue that as a young player Bonds did not possess great speed along with outstanding range as a left fielder, but outside of Yastrzemski, there just haven’t been that many notable defensive left fielders because it is a hitter’s position. Bonds did not have the defensive value of an elite centerfielder, no way. Right field is a more important defensive position than left, which is only more important than 1B. Speed is generally a vastly overrated skill in baseball. Ruth our-tripled Bonds 136 to 77! Ruth had 182.5 WAR, Bonds 162.8. Bonds stole 514 bases and was caught 141 times. According to Bill James and Pete Palmer, Bonds’ stealing game had a net value of 53.45 runs over the course of his 22-year career, or about six wins. Per 162 games Bonds averaged 2.6 runs created via stealing, which is hardly significant in the big picture. Even if you completely ignore Ruth’s Hall of Fame pitching ability, he was still the most successful player of all time: www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/onbase_plus_slugging_plus_career.shtml QED
@chevyblock5504 жыл бұрын
@@alsacrime4806 Ruth played in a time where the skills of the players were far lower than what they are today. The only three things he had going for him were sheer power, a good arm on the mound, and a likable personality. The vast majority of the players during Ruth's time are not even triple A level player's during Bonds' time. Bonds played in the modern era of baseball in the steroid era when everyone was juiced to the gills because there was no drug testing, a time in baseball history many fans looks back upon. Not only did he hit a record 762 career home runs, he holds the record for most number of walks drawn. Just to remind you, that was 2558 times. This is in the modern era. If that isn't pitchers being chickens and not wanting to face Bonds then it was Bonds with an amazing batting eye and high playing IQ.
@alsacrime48064 жыл бұрын
Chevyblock 550 By your logic it is therefore impossible to compare players across eras, so what is your point? Where precisely did the modern era begin? Ted Williams was essentially the same player in 1939 as he was in 1960, and Babe Ruth played well into the 1930’s. Could the superstar players of the 1960’s excel today? Ask Barry if Willie Mays would be a minor league player today. Willie and Ted were peers and Ted and Greenberg were peers and Greenberg and Babe were peers. Everything you say contradicts your own half-baked thesis.

Babe Ruth. 1994 players strike, World Series wiped out, Baseball juiced the ball and all of a sudden every Tom, Dick and Harry was hitting homers. Wasn't just Barry. Buys we've forgotten about were suddenly, and I mean suddenly hitting 40 or more homers. They juiced the ball, wrecked all of the records and blamed it on the players for something the players had been doing, with everybody's knowledge, for decades. To slow the hitting down back in the '50's they built the mound up. When the mound destroyed offense in the '60's and the game was losing popularity, they cut the mound down. Hitting increased. No one ever gives them the credit, but the Owners control the game. Change a rule or a condition you change the performance. Pretty simple.

the first time I took nutrition and lifting even semi seriously I went from like 155-160 to 180 in like 4-5 months and by semi-seriously I mean just do a bunch of lazy self resistance shit throughout the day and drink a protein shake and take creatine and I was in my early 30s. so I don't understand how that's implied to be an almost impossible feat. I would say I have 7/10 genes and a 3/10 work ethic/discipline, now imagine having ,9-10/10 of both like a lot of world class athletes do. If you want to say it adds to the suspicion fine but a lot of people act like it's impossible to do and that's just not true

Yeah but that wasn't just muscle. Anyone that start lifting puts on a decent amount of weight the first year but it's not solid muscle a lot of that especially if you're taking creatine is water weight. putting on 20 lbs, and putting on 20 lbs of pure muscle is quite different, and Bonds was not ripped like Sosa or Mac, and clearly did not put on 20 lbs of muscle..The pouch in his stomach shows that.. @markg.10785 жыл бұрын
@@faith_alone Let me rephrase that. I'm sorry that you did not understand what I said so I'll clarify. It is impossible any way you want to put it to gain 20 pounds of muscle in one year. The most anybody can gain of pure muscle is maybe seven pounds a year. That's it. And that is if you do everything right. I don't doubt that Shaquille O'Neal put on 60 lb in the offseason. But it wasn't all muscle,, I can tell you that!. In fact, probably none of it was muscle. With most person, gaining that kind of weight is terrible on the body. You see so many boxers are on the up and down up and down "yo-yo syndrome". It's better just to stay not more than about 10 or 15 pounds over fighting weight. And the smaller you are, the less weight you need to gain. It's terrible on your reflexes, and hard on your body.

@@markg.1078 more than 7 lbs of muscle in a year is impossible? Bro I've personally gained 10 pounds in a year and the whole time was so lean I had veins in my calves. @@faith_alone I've worked out and trained my whole life. And all I can say is that I simply do not believe you. I do not believe it is physically impossible to gain more than 7 to 8 lb of pure solid muscle with no fat. I don't doubt that you gained that much weight in a year, especially if you're a young man, and you're popping on all cylinders, and your testosterone level is somewhere in the stratosphere. If you gained 20 pounds in a year it was not all muscle. That's the point I'm trying to make.
@20DYNAMITE063 жыл бұрын

The game you play should dictate what type of training you engage in. case in point: The Dutch female sprinter that was kicking ass for many years, younger runners begin to show up, what she do? She hit the weights, ( and who knows what else), the end results were that she became too muscular, could move as fast any more and "puff", she was history.

Look man, you’re not putting on 25+ LBs of muscle in 2-3 summer months naturally. I don’t care how much you eat, workout, rest or whatever……that’s not happening naturally. That’s too short of a time period for those gains to take place without being on something (GEAR). And for a man in his 30s, your body is already at it’s natural peak IMHO so you’ll need something extra to take you over the top and gain that much muscle mass in such a short period of time.
@nikkolas8216 жыл бұрын
PEDs/SARMS/NOOTropics they make hand eye coordination improved focus improved, motivation to perform improve. Like commenter said, PEDs DO NOT give a person unicorn magical skills over night. Bonds has a gift like we all have a special gift in a certain skill. But, dont think that Bonds increased strength was the ONLY factor involved. Its the ability to perform at a higher level or capacity due to a mans Main hormone testosterone functioning at more than optimal. Also, internally the body operating with precision. Unlike most of our bodies as we age. If we put a lot of junk in or bad foods in to our bodies, over the years our internal processes eventually slow down or don’t connect the best way possible. these drugs make the connections internally work correctly or above average. Thats all it is!!

@mattray99047 жыл бұрын
CarimboHanky Yeah, steroids did help, but Bonds was also more focused on home runs, which is why he also struck out at a higher rate that year and no longer in Candlestick. Check out his '93 season. Nearly tied the intentional walk record even back then and hit 46, but his road stats were much better than home and that's usually the opposite. Then hit something like 22 home runs in his last 45 games or so before the '94 strike and only struck out something like 18 times during that stretch and back then had taken "nothing stronger than a protein shake" even according to Game of Shadows. He struck out half as much as other power hitters and was better clean than they were juicing.
