I think they were having a shaky relationship together, and Joe isn't emotionally equipped to deal with stuff, so he just blew the relationship up, like he does with every business and personal relationship he has. Notice, he had Marissa and Mal as Co-hosts, fired Marissa and kept Mal. Now he has Rory and Mal as Co-hosts, fired one and kept the other. He knows he can't carry the show by himself, but he's emotionally ill equipped to handle conflict, so he destroys half to put a wedge between the other two, then destroys the other half when he feels confident he has someone else to continue the cycle with. Anybody dealing with Joe should get far away, because when he's done with you, it's going to end in an explosion, not a wave goodbye.

Whenever I hear stories of the entertainment business it’s usually stores of the corporations and labels screwing over individuals and that story doesn’t sound any different to me except for the fact that I personally think Joe should have stepped up and tried to get her paid from Spotify for her 77 episodes. He may have tried and they said no but it doesn’t seem to me that he has been too concerned with Marissa since he fired her and probably didn’t do anything to assist her with getting Spotify to pay her but I wasn’t there so I can’t say for sure what happened. The business shouldn’t be that way but from what I hear a lot of creatives get screwed which ironically was something that Joe kept championing for the creators but at the same time treated the creators that worked with and for him the same way that corporations and labels treat them.

Plus it’s just not professional & disrespectful. I had to let someone go once because of my budget. She proceeded to tcall me names & shared how much she hated me & her direct supervisor. I listened & wished her well.. what she didn’t know was if she had taken a breath and let me speak..I had an interview lined up for her with more pay because she had some good skills. But because she lacked professional communication skills, I didn’t make that connection for her. communication skills where needed for that job... so my point is respect flows both ways.. all I’m saying is he could have just handled in a different way...
