Thank you for this great news. She turned my adolescent head around, just her sound, on those rock records in the early and mid 70s. This sound, introduced by Leon Russell, not only anchored George Harrison's historic 3-record set All Things Must Pass (the George O'Hara Smith Singers) and the Concert for Bangla Desh, she is in the film, but in the sound of Eric Clapton (Black Summer Rain, others), Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge, Delaney & Bonnie... Her solo career deserved better.

Such a beautiful voice and woman. I loved her interview in 20 Feet from Stardom. So much talent, it made me sad to see, after all of her contributions to music, she is now teaching Spanish. Not that there's a thing wrong with being a teacher, but you'd think she'd have been taken care of for all of the people she supported musically. I'll never get it. The backup singers very often make the song but they're not paid accordingly.

Yes, we have the Master of Space and Time, Mr. Leon Russell, on piano...he's also the band leader! Please, also, some Love for the great Jim Gordon at 1:18 - I forget who the quote is from, but its touting Gordon as the greatest rock drummer of the era....(And hell yes he's up there).. Google the man!

@Jagman94 Claudia also sang backup for Leon on his 1971 European tour where she obviously mad a lasting impression with Mick Jagger- she was a partial inspiration for "Brown Sugar" and her romance with David Bowie inspired him to write "Lady of the Grinning Soul" for her--a beautiful love song. Lucky girl.

She was primarily a backup singer (don't know why). Did have at least one solo album: 'Phew!' in 1973 ... there's a short blurb about her on Wikipedia.

@kingfucter Claudia led a very interesting life in the 70's. She toured Europe with Leon and had an affair with Mick Jagger. She was the partial inspiration for "Brown Sugar." Her romance with David Bowie inspired him to write "Lady Grinning Soul" for her. A beautiful love song for a beautiful lady.

please someone make music like this these days. listen to it... no senseless lyrics involving the same old bullshit; sex, girlfriends, and all that other cookie cutter bullshit... just music with real meaning. if it werent for the 60s and 70s i probably wouldnt even listen to music. and another thing... when they covered songs they definitely didnt fuck em up... they made em better. unlike kid rock.

@carusmike hahahaha, you're serious? I mean, Joe is an amazing vocalist, but that's all he does...Leon sings, writes, plays...a true musician....an amazing piano player and his vocal styling is great...so if you're one of those people that rates someone that's just a singer as better than the whole package (leon) then you should probably just stop listening to music now, you're done, no more for you...also, I don't see everyone's obsession with this black chick- not the greatest singer or looker
