This is what I grew up with. I always had a vivid imagination and could just listen to country songs, telling a story, and see it play out in my head. So much more creativity than now.

I thought that life was runnin' off Leavin' me behind So like a fool I jumped the fence Just to see what I could find But love kept disappearing like Children chasing fire flies in the dark And to think that I once had it all In my own backyard You'd never know it now, but I used to have it all A swing set and a plastic pool, a shaggy dog that lived to fetch a ball An angel with a glass of tea, laughin' at the kids and me All soakin' wet from washin' that old car And to think that I once had it all, in my own backyard That bare spot's grown over now Where third base used to be And the weeds have choked out all the flowers But they can't kill the memories Lord, I'd love to run back home But there's no one there for me And that grass I used to hate to mow Sure is lookin' green Ohh, you'd never know it now, but I used to have it all A swing set and a plastic pool, a shaggy dog that lived to fetch a ball An angel with a glass of tea, laughin' at the kids and me All soakin' wet from washin' that old car And to think that I once had it all, in my own backyard You'd never know it now, but I used to have it all Spoken: Once I had everything Sing again: In my own back yard...

This song chokes me up. When I was just a young boy I had a swing set my grandfather built for me. I had a plastic pool from Walmart. My shaggy dog Toby who’s passed on. Now I open the door to the yard and it’s all gone. Like they say time marches on

Oh my goodness! He probably never in a million years thought three weeks later would be his last day on earth. But none of us know...so...love God...love your neighbor as yourself...trust in Jesus...and give what life you do have away to bless others. How was the show? Sound good? Was he with Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Tippin and a band or just acoustic? I wish I could have gone. He was truly a country legend

Country music has been the backdrop of my entire life, and the last few weeks have been terribly difficult for us country music fans. First Kenny Rogers, now Joe Diffie - both legendary artists in their own rights who played huge parts in defining the heart of country music. RIP Joe Diffie - there will never be another quite like you. Fly High.
