I'm gonna leave my thoughts here. Right now, I'm really afraid for the Tally Hall/Joe Hawley community. These few people are taking something that could be solved so much easier, by just leaving Joe alone to better himself, but are instead completely blowing it out of proportion. I hope that Joe doesn't respond to this negatively and see that most of us want to see him get better, and this "soleil" guy is to be the last of this type of behavior coming from us.

When the doc first came out almost everyone immediately began to harass joe telling him that he “needs to respond” or he “needs to apologise” and I was the one having to explain to those people that what they were doing was the exact reason WHY the doc wasn’t out sooner. They made it for people to stop interacting with a dangerous person, not to harass him (or anyone). You spoke perfectly once again in this video mate, a job well done and thanks again for all the updates and being a mature influence on a confused and unaware community!

I don't know if anyone is going to see this in the sea that is the youtube comment section, but here we go anyway. joe does not deserve this. he isn't okay mentally and these "people" have to know that what they're doing is wrong. he may have done some bad things, but that doesn't mean he deserves anything like this. honestly i understand why he deleted his twitter. i feel so bad for him, and i hope he gets better. but he wont if stuff like this keeps happening.

Situations like this make me despise social media. It just does something to people's brains that brings out the worst in people. Especially if they're already mentally unstable, or if they're young and their brains aren't fully developed yet. I swear the drama is always 10 times worse in fandoms that skew younger. This is far from the first time I've seen someone's life be seriously fucked with because they're internet famous and attracted the attention of the wrong people. Any unstable weirdo can put someone in danger at the click of a button and its terrifying. There's a conversation to be had about how social media algorithms promote reactionary behavior and harassment. Calm, civil discussion doesn't give you engagement. Character limits discourage nuanced conversations. Its hard to take people in good faith when you don't know who's behind the screen. People get paranoid and become more concerned with proving they're a good person than actually doing the right thing. They harass people over any wrongdoing even when it's counter-productive: case in point. Tldr ive been through too much toxicity in online spaces and im done with it. Im gonna go touch some grass

Why the fuck do people feel like they have the right to harass someone they label a villain? The way they do bad things just to get back at the person is disgustingly hypocritical. (And if they weren’t a victim of any of the situations, then it’s not even their place to lash out really, either). Not thrilled by what Joe’s done in the slightest, but if he owns up to it, apologizes, and promises to get help, that’s okay with me. None of those steps are easy, I’d argue that going to get help is the hardest, honestly. It’s more complicated than just treating a mental illness- he’s made mistakes he’ll have to open up about and he needs to find someone patient enough to listen to him and ACTUALLY help him.
