I'm a Hoosier and live in LA and this gentleman was brought to my attention way back by my wonderful father.........I will think of Joe and my Dad in the same way..........great men are hard to let go of.......thanks

I graduated there in 83. He was the heartbeat of that campus. He'd stop and talk to students all the time I'm still very sad over his passing and the turbulence that surrounded it a decade plus later

Like everyone else I will never forget JoePa. I never met him but I he has always been my hero and inspiration. Ever since I was little I always said I wanted to meet Joe now I'm 18...Tomorrow I am going to his viewing to pay my respect, It will be the first time and the last that I will see JoePa in person..It breaks my heart that it has to be this way. JoePa will always be in my heart he may be gone from this Earth but he's in a better place now Gone but Never forgotten

I will never forget what JoePa did for my university, nor will I ever forget January 22nd, 2012. Even though I never knew Joe personally, he was always my hero and someone who inspired me. I can only hope to be half the man Joe was.

well....I am a PSU alumni and was a great fan of Joe. However, no one can justify how he handled this affair. Inexcusable. But the good he did far outweighs his faults. Sad indeed that his rep will be forever tarnished.

I went to Penn State when they won their first national championship. There was/is an unmistakable aura surrounding PSU, and I felt it the first second I stepped on campus, to this very day. Joe Paterno was largely responsible for that aura. Thank You Joe, for what you have meant to me and my father.

Listen, I wrote this comment over 5 months ago. Since the events that transpired yesterday, I honestly don't know where I stand with Joe Paterno. He made a huge mistake, and I am disappointed. One horrible act can erase a lifetime of great acts.

As a fan, I feel what you saying. I am angry with JVP and he has lost my respect though I see him as a great and successful coach with a lot of impact on his players and university. That being said, this is what students, alums and fans are going to have to deal with this for as long as there is a FB program at PSU. It's a sad situation all the way and the main reason is because of the victims and what they suffered.

Grambling State's legendary football coach Eddie Robinson is once again the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division I football history. On Monday, the NCAA announced in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that it had vacated late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno of his wins from the 1998 to 2011 seasons. A total of 111 wins were stripped from Paterno, thus restoring Robinson to the top of the wins list.

Do you know why I don't know how I feel how about Joe Paterno yet? Because he was my hero. Yes, I realize he did a very evil thing. But is it so wrong to have a hero in life? I don't think you have had the "pleasure" of realizing that your hero failed you and did a really shitty thing. It is a hard thing to accept for many people like myself that he did something like this, but he did. Its extremely disappointing and I really feel for the kids and their families.

Yes, he did make a mistake. You sound like some troll that is just out to make fun of whoever has anything to do with Penn State. I am a Penn State student, and I'm very ashamed with how the most powerful men in the university handled this situation. It is a travesty the way the situation was handled within the university administration. We will never know exactly what Joe Paterno's intentions were, since he is dead.......but I am also saddened and appalled at what was able to go on for so long.
